David Moyes will surprise many!!! Actually there is a real risk that he might eclipse SAF in terms of average trophies per year! People will not shout about it or compare him with SAF too much WHEN he starts winning trophies out of respect for SAF but they will notice!

For starters, David Moyes wins his first EPL and United's 21st NEXT SEASON! You can hold me to that statement! And he will take the FA Cup more seriously than SAF has been of later. So people have to start getting used to United doubles, occassional trebles and a quadruple within six seasons that will elevate him to legendary status.

Given the size of squzd he has been working with at Everton and what will be available to him at united, this guys will perform wonders at United!!! And the good thing is that he is into youth development like SAF and Wenger (who unfortunately is a net seller) unlike Mourinho who would have killed youth development (given a chance!!!)

Mancini is set to receive £28m in compensation from City.

And people are feeling sorry for him.

Who's feeling sorry for him? Financially, he might end BETTER off depending on the wording of his contract! If he is to recieve a lumpsum then he will be definitely BEETER OFF because he pockets the money and heads of to another job - which will not be hard to come by! If the contract states that he continues recieveing a salary for the next four years so long as he doesn't take up another job, then there is no financial advantage.

Anywho, it's not about money here. It's about respect!!! I know some people confuse the two. When you get to some point, respect becomes more important than money. Mancini is already at that point. I remember Redknapp stating a few weeks ago that he does not care if his salary is reduced because of chosing to stay at QPR. He said he doesn't work for money. He has enough in the bank. Last year he actually took up a job as a football advisor at the first club he managed - Bournemouth - for FREE!!!

If Ferguson was all about money, he could have left Man United long time ago!!! He could easily get teams that could have doubled his salary pap!

SAF - Not about the money!!!

Pay Cut OK

In his line of work, this is not unusual. It's the norm. I think it's a relief when you're finally fired because I'm sure it's all they expect and think about.

All the same he's done well enough, got a good pay and teams to come scrambling for him anytime now.

BBI will solve it

@ Maichblack......Moyes’ record away at United, Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal (the traditional top four) stands at played 45, won 0, drawn 18 and lost 27.....total of 18 points gained from a possible 135.

"Any manager taking charge of a young team in transition and still finding its tactical identity will have a task on his hands. Any manager taking charge of a team expected to win trophies while striking a fine balance between world-class stars and promising youth graduates will have an even bigger challenge. Any manager who isn’t Sir Alex Ferguson doing all this at Manchester United will face a task of the biggest magnitude......have made a significant statement of their faith in young British managers. They did it with Sir Alex, they will claim, so why not with Moyes as well? It is a bold move, a risky move and, if it pays off, will be one of the greatest success stories of managerial talent....But if it doesn’t, the six-year deal will backfire, and then, though nobody would want it to, the individual would once again be bigger than the club."

As for Mancini well i don't think he'll be jobless for long, there are several top clubs in Europe who are in need of a manager of his calibre at the moment.....he might even end up at Real madrid.

So while you get all excited and emotional about how Macini was "useless" and SAF is great, remember he just walked away with GBP 28M...after being sacked.

Where did this £28m payout come from. Dude will be paid an initial £7.5m (12 months salary) and additional monthly payments if he remains jobless after a year!!!!

Why do they agree to sign such deals knowing pretty well they wont remain jobless for long? They should sign Mourinho - like contracts that guarantee you a lumpsum the minute you are fired!!

Benitez also insists on such contracts! It makes it harder to fire you and rich if you are fired! There was a time Benitez was "the highest paid" football manager in the world - not because of a high salary per se but because he was on two or three salaries!!! Liverpool + Inter Millan + ??? And he was working for neither of them at the time. Laughing out loudly Laughing out loudly Laughing out loudly

André Villas-Boas contract at Chelsea only guaranteed him full salary while jobless, a top up salary [for the difference] if he gets a lower paying job and zero if the pay is the same or higher!
