I liked this one...SAF has more knowledge about soccer than all kenyans put together,he has constantly made the right choices...questionable at times but to a high degree/percentage right...he knows why he picked Moyes...a big name coach(akina benitez, mourinho etc) would have come with ATT that would have brought down the team...

For the sake of EPL, we are better off having Arsenal and Chelsea playing in the UCL than Spurs. We will gain more in terms of competitiveness. Spurs to be number 5 and off to Europa.

I think the decision for Moyes was also informed by the fact that he is patient with players who are averagely skilled. He has spent 12 yrs at Everton and ensured the team remains stable n strong inspite of shallow recruitment pockets. His longevity at Everton is a big plus for him unlike some big name coaches who only cherish short term trophies here n there. SAF is leaving an average team compared to his previous squads. The team is also quite young, thus needs nurturing by a patient coach. The Scottish connection is also a safe guarantee that Moyes has been dyed in SAF's philosophy.

That was a goal that left me speechless (especially that he picked the ball from his own half)...it was Henry-like!

SAF was/is a very powerful figure at OT, I'm not quite sure Moyes will be able to command the same level of respect from the Management, fans and players. He's a good coach for the long-term but will the owners have the same kind of patience SAF received when he joined the club. We are at a time when fans demand instant results and consistency on the pitch, Moyes will be under a lot of pressure to succeed. SAF has always preferred British born players in his team so i'm not really surprised of his choice of Moyes as his successor, hope it doesn't backfire.

Who's in and who's out?

With 2 matches to go, your predictions for 3, 4th place...

3. Chelsea 69
4. Arsenal 67
5. Tottenham 66

Aston Villa v Chelsea
Chelsea v Everton
Stoke City v Tottenham Hotspur
Tottenham Hotspur v Sunderland
Arsenal v Wigan Athletic
Newcastle United v Arsenal

...and relegation?

14. Southampton 39
15. Sunderland 38
16. Norwich City38
17. Newcastle United 38
18. Wigan Athletic 35

If wigan can do the impossible and beat Arsenal, they'll survive.

BBI will solve it

Wigan play Man City this weekend in the FA Cup final then Arsenal on Tuesday at the Emirates on Tuesday.......this time they'll definitely be relegated.

It'll be hard for Martinez to field a 2nd string team against City, most of these players know they might never get a chance of a cup final again so Martinez cannot deny the first team the chance. Sadly, I tend to agree that the cup final will be the final nail on Wigan's coffin - cup finals are normally do or die for these small teams. Arsenal should have easy pickings next Tue. In the long run, you can only escape relegation battles for so long.

Whichever team slips up between Arsenal and Spurs should end up in Europa, I just don't see Chelsea slipping up, Uefa cup final or not. Their depth is quite something.

As for Moyes,I'm very keen to see what he'll do with the huge transfer fees at his disposal, especially if Rooney is sold. He's never had such money in his life before, hehe. Man Utd were looking for a coach who values longevity in a club more than anything else. While I would have preferred a big name coach coming in, Moyes, if he does well, is a coach who can skuma Utd for another 10 years till he's 60, even 20 years if he's really successful. Remaining competitive in EPL may not be a hard ask considering Utd's winning spirit even with poor performances, what am not sure about is whether Moyes will be able to crack the monster that is the CL. Fergie's only blemish in his illustrious career is that he only won 2 CL's in 25 years. Even he admits as much. Had he won at least 3 then there'd be no debate about who's greater between him and Bill Shankly, the difference would be clear for all to see. But of course he's definitely the greatest manager in the EPL era and probably in English football.

@ Mc Reggae......ati 2nd string team, are we talking about Wigan ama one of the top four teams. Wigan have already qualified for Europa League next season, i don't think they are really worried about relegation. If they win the FA Cup final, they will enter the Europa League at the group stage, If the lose they will enter in the third qualifying round.....there are reports linking Martinez with Everton, i think he would want to leave Wigan with at least a trophy.

@Taz, every team worries about relegation. Aibu ndogo ndogo being hit by teams in that league plus with Europa being the tough league it is they might face relegation again in the Championship. I doubt Wigan has a team B though.
