The only problem is that, the Daktaris may just end up having their SAY but not their WAY.

Remember the 'tyranny' in the Appointments Committee and also in the House?

I beg to differ.

Hon. Njeru Githae lost the Governorship nominations in Kirinyaga County because women were livid that that the nurses (Doctors at Mashinani) were on strike due to pay wrangles with Treasury and thus Maternity Wards were unmanned.

The result was that women died while undergoing unsupervised labour resulting in double burials of mother and fetus.

The doctors and medical fraternity have immense powers at the grassroots and any committee member with a rural constituency will have that in mind while making a decision if he or she will want peace at home.

Ask Hon. Githae as you Ponder that.

The principal reason why Githae lost is far from matters related to happenings at Treasury...think about the sudden demise of his loving son???
Yeah, hapo ndipo kuna mambo.

I don't have anything against the doctors but truth be said most medical doctors don't know much outside their profession and specializations.......very narrow in operationsofession and specializations. I think most doctors have an elitist attitude that doesn't help much in matters leadership and management. Most are cold, individualistic, albeit bright people who do not know a thing other than medicine which doesn't make for the greatest thinkers or managers of other people. Their social networks do not go beyond family, patient relatives and professional friends, paramedics... And such high profile appointments as Ministerial positions need emotional intelligence and that is a rare commodity among those of the noble profession of medicine.
!!!!

McReggae, my brother, that's a really sad assessment of Kenyan doctors. Pray tell why most of them are now working in US, UK, SA, Germany, Australia etc? We lose hundreds of doctors each year to foreign countries because our doctors are at par with any other doctor anywhere in the world.

That assesment is agreed with by adoctor friend of mine!!!
