@McR

Mambo ya last elections kando, on a serious note, I hope you still have your sources intact for the 'neutral' public interest issues that does not relate to the CORD/Jubilee divide. Always good to have the "scoop" before the 7pm bulletin.

Very strategic to start with those nice CVs.....I hope zile rwadhia are not on their way!!!!

I am prayingPray Pray the "Mwakwere's" of this world shall not find their way into the cabinet. Let's have two politicians there(UK n Ruto)to do the political section. The rest can sit and run this country affairs professionally.

I agree it was a strategic move. We have to be pragmatic and note that at least the regional political Principals in the Jubilee Coalition will be accorded roles in the government they have helped to bring into power. Otherwise they may as well have been with OAR - as raia.

That said I hope it will just be few politicans.

Some say hatuwezi jua who nominated who? Thus far:

URP: Treasury and Foreign Affairs!!!

....above is political, in terms of qualification I find the URP nominees better placed for their roles!!!!

I'm almost certain Amina Abdalla is a TNA nominee. Rotich also worked with UK at the Treasury when he was the Finance Minister.

Laughing out loudly Laughing out loudly Laughing out loudly Laughing out loudly .....applying academic thinking to a political process will not help you bro!!!!

You guys don't learn. You should never question, doubt or second guess what McR says. He is the only one who has solid and credible sources here in Wazua. If he says Amina Abdalla is a URP nominee, I believe him.

Please...please, whatever McR says, just accept and move on. He has a track record here in Wazua. Remember the "toothcomb"?
d'oh!

Laughing out loudly Laughing out loudly Laughing out loudly Laughing out loudly Laughing out loudly ...yeah I remember, somebody stiffled it and when it happened at the SC.....some 6 guys decided to ignore the findings, so yes 'toothcomb' existed!!!!

Laughing out loudly Laughing out loudly @ MC buddy,i can't believe you still stuck on the 6 guys and the unanimous pronouncement. Did you read this ?

@famooz, fortunately I don't have to think/reason like all the rest!!!!

True,true,but there 'come' a timesmile

Who would know how Kibaki performed as a health minister in the 80s now that he was not a doctor?

Dismal.

so there is no correlation between academic papers and performance on the job...

Kibs performed dismally in Health docket in the 80s not because of lack of "right papers" but due to being ultra-dont-care attitude.

Whereas I agree with you here, it is apparent that the cabinet appointments are not strictly about parties anymore. It is more about qualified people who HE the President and Deputy can agree upon, taking into account the gender and "face of Kenya" requirements in the constitution.

So it will be a bit confusing who really appointed who or whose party has nominated who...

e.g. 1) Treasury secretary impressed the president when he worked as Finance Manager. He is also highly qualified and has the right papers. He comes from a community other than Kikuyu.... President Uhuru is keen to break that myth that only members of his community can be appointed to head Treasury....and Rotich is of course acceptable to the DP and could be from URP.

2) ICT secretary was campaign manager for Simon Nyachae in 2002. someone can argue that President Uhuru is in a way thanking Nyachae for his TNA / Jubilee support.... though relations between the nominee and Nyachae could have changed over time. But he has high qualifications in education and as a consultant.... ICT - BO business in Kenya yet to take off despite having ICT people leading the department in the past.

3) Foreign Affairs secretary is also a friend of President having worked as an ambassador for a long time but she comes from Eldoret. So she could be said to be URP nominated. She is also very close to Isahakia family of former PMs office....if not a relative. In my opinion she was the most qualified person for this role...and it was a blessing in disguise for Uhuruto (read ICC) that she did not get the head of WTO post. She has met an interacted with who is who in the international arena....most people people that matter.... they know each other on a first name basis....so no need for introductions.

4) James Macharia has a had an excellent career in banking rising to be a CEO. More importantly he is a chartered accountant. He could be more of TNA because of where he comes from. Whereas president Kibaki will be remembered as an education President....Uhuru will be a Health President (in terms of aspects that touch the common mwananchi). Most of the resources wastage in government has been in health sector (among others)....and he needs an accountant to save every cent here....and then get ways of financing the provision of health services. Some analysts think this is the best appointment among the 4 so far done.
