What is wrong with Kenyans? On this forum we have a thread of people complaining about members of their party who they voted for needing to be paid more in salaries

On this one, we have people who can't seem to understand that it doesn't matter what party one professes to be in or sharing nusu mkate or tribe.

Damn....These are cabinet secretaries. Can't we insist on only one criteria......COMPETENCE.

Who cares if they name Judas Iscariot as a cabinet secretary as long as he performs?

When we as citizens start demanding competence, then we can talk development.

If wazuans are still talking watu wetu politics in cabinet positions, then I'll say again, choices have consequences.

I hear the ministry of 'National Treasury' is in TNA's side again.
I do hope i am wrong. Nothing illegal abt that but it may not send the right messages

Ruto was promised the non-existant MInistry of FInace.....UHuru has just taken the newly created National TReasury.....siasa ni kuchezeana....RUto should accept and move on for the sake of competent appointment. I wonder why it's only one side of the coalition which can produce competent individuals.

This is how to brew trouble!

"According to a reliable source,
both President-Uhuru and his
Deputy- Ruto have shared the
18 Cabinet slots equally with
TNA and URP getting nine
slots each. However Ruto is
reported to be uncomfortable
with the apparent merger and
renaming of ministries to his
disadvantage, some sections
of the pre-election MoU
seem to be breached by the
latest development.
The amazing top dawgs at
Harembee house- Mutea
Iringo, Kimemia and Chief
Gichangi are said to have
been behind the merger of
crucial ministries. Kenyans
especially those on social
media and allied to Raila
Odinga have urged Ruto to
“accept and move on” for the
sake of development. The
following is the leaked list of
cabinet slots as shared by
TNA and URP respectively,
you can judge if indeed they
reflect the 50:50 power
sharing agreement.
“If Ruto concedes to anything
in the agreement deposited
with the registrar, the pre-
election agreement will not be
worth the paper it was
written on. It will have set a
wrong precedence, he should
soldier on and make sure he
gets Finance and Devolution
dockets. Those are the
ministries that can enable him
demonstrate his performance
and earn a good tag for it

another pundit added
Uhuru’s Cabinet slots
1. Ministry of Interior and
Coordination of National
Government.
2. Ministry of Devolution and
Planning.
3. Ministry of Defence
4. Ministry of Foreign Affairs
5. The National Treasury
6. Transport and
Infrastructure which will have
the Department of Transport
Services and the Department
of Infrastructure.
7. Environment, Water and
Natural Resource
8. Energy and Petroleum
9. Mining.
Ruto’s Cabinet slots
1. Education which will have
the Department of Education
and Department of Science
and Technology
2. Ministry of Health
3. Land, Housing and Urban
Development
4. Information,
Communication and
Technology (ICT)
5. Sports, Culture and the Arts
6. Labour, Social Security and
Services
7. Agriculture, Livestock and
Fisheries under which are the
Department of Agriculture,
Department of Livestock and
Department of Fisheries
8. Industrialization and
Enterprise Development
9. Commerce and Tourism
which has the Department of
Commerce and Dept
of Tourism""

Why will he not be able to demonstrate his performance with the ministries he is given? Will the jubilee side starve him of the necessary finances to achieve what he wants?

You know things are thick when people start to freely interchange TNA and Jubilee!

Now I understand why in Eldoret only TNA colours were seen celebrating after the jubilee victory.

yes they have the full mkate which is supposed to be shared to nusu mkate. The problem here just like its always been is how fat the slices on your side are.

I still don't get the logic behind a 50/50 deal. Why would the president who would ultimately be responsible for the failures of his government allow someone to control half the executive? Sounds like nusu mkate arrangement or that former company called RIM that had 2 CEOs. We all know just how those two went.
And just how would Ruto/URP getting 50% help him if his vision doesn't agree with Uhuru's? My understanding is that all Cabinet Secretaries are answerable to the President and not to a party. And they serve at the Presidnt's pleasure. So if Ruto’s party got the Cabinet Secretary's slot for the National Treasury would they be answerable to Ruto or Uhuru? In a case such a Secretary refuses to do what the president wants due o loyalty to Ruto what would stop the president from firing them and asking Ruto/Uhuru for another nominees - sure it would then not take long for the next Secretary to realize that they serve at the pleasure of the president and know whom to be 'loyal' to.

The problem with a coalition government is that though in theory the president enjoys certain prerogatives, in practice he soon realizes that he can't exercise certain powers if by so doing he runs the risk of antagonizing the other coalition partner.

Guys
It’s all in the public domain….there was a deal. Yes, get professionals, but finance’s professional was to be from URP.

Staki sida ya vita, oh we were conned, oh, they cannot be trusted. Oh, we told you so.
I would want this team to keep united and trust each other fully.

Were they checking the names with the registrar of political parties? How would they know a person's political inclination and does it matter much if the person is qualified?Sending signals to who and what are the effects of the signals if the person is competent? After the cabinet appointments, how will you know who came from TNA,URP,UDF or even ODM?Let us focus on good individuals and stop this pettiness,it won't take us anywhere and is not expected in wazua!!!

I dare call you arrogant and uninformed.
Your argument may look acceptable to someone not aware how coalations work.
Coalations work on agreements, trust and consultations which you seem to trash out the window.
