Please do not make the mistake of comparing a county ward rep to a professor... That is an insult!

Most of these county ward reps are just idle housewives and fresh graduates!

Elective positions should be for people who who are at the self actualization stage of life so the salary should be pocket money to donate for church sadaka and to entertain guests at the pub and to fuel the car and so on. They should not start to tell us about mortgages and school fees. They should have done all that before they sought political office.

I say 79k inatosha for now but in counties that get their act together and streamline revenue collection and are able to attract businesses to their counties to grow revenue there will be no problem if they increase their salaries accordingly.

President - 1million
Senator/governor - 700k
MP/Womans rep - 500k
County ward rep - 79k

The disparities between the county reps and the rest is HUGE!!

But you also have to remember their number is huge compared to mps, senators and governors. Assuming they are 5 times the number of mps that would be about 1500 county reps. Also the number of people they represent is lower compared to the rest.

A teacher does more work than any political office holder and yet he or she earns peanuts. Kwani their kids were not going to school before they were elected????
These guys make me think of my 4 year old daughter. Whenever we are going to the supermarket I explain tat i do not have enough money to buy her the world, only a few things, and she gladly accepts my terms and conditions. However, when we enter the supermarket she will throw tantrums and demand for very expensive things!!!!

But 79K gross surely is meager, even if the kanjora is deemed to be a class 8 drop out!

Hiyo ni mingi. They should earn a maximum gross of 35k since they don't have any experience and do not even know their roles as prior to being elected they were idlers,if dissatisfied let them resign and apply for vacancies in the dailies where there are jobs that pay as high as 2m a month.

These people are fathers and mothers with mouths to feed!
Sad

And other Kenyans are not fathers and mothers with mouths to feed???

@impunity, you seem to be very divorced from the reality in Kenya!!! Do you know how long it takes average hardworking, educated and experienced Kenyans to see their pay slip reading 79,000/=? For some it is NEVER! Think of retired [graduate] teachers who retire earning less than 50k after years of service!
