If we were to look at the business world in Kenya.....

which locally started enterprises...

run by local .....

or..

indigenous Kenyans.....

would feature.....

in the list of the Best Indigenous Company....... ???

on a scale of 1 - 100.....

After the tally, all companies started by or on behalf of civil servants or politicians.....

would be deducted 100 points.....

Eeeeehhh!!! Have racked my brain to much.
You should give more criteria. Its difficult to assess such companies because one they are not in the public domain, usually little web presence.
Assumed criteria
1.Was not a parastatal/ goverment business that was recently privatised or sold off
2.Started small or big by locals. So infusion later by foreign capital or ipo doesnt matter?

Financial
Equity
Family finance

Industry.
Athi river
mabati rolling mills
haco

Service
Tamarind ... there are many here.

I don't know the names of the companies but here is my list:

The company that makes Nice and Lovely products. I may be wrong but I believe it was founded and is ran by an indigenous Kenyan couple.

There is a farm in Tigoni that has a dairy plant where they have been making dairy products for many years. They also package and sell vegetables. What is remarkable about this establishment is that they manage everything from producing on the farm to presenting the final product on the supermarket shelf. It is owned and ran by a lady.

Riara Schools

Kosewe's (Ranalo Foods)

Incas: I dont know whether that is the name of the company that makes the Amaranth Uji flour. It is owned and ran by 2 ladies.

The company that makes 'Winnies Pure Health' products. I think the owner might be that lady Winnie.

Tuskys

Sabina Joy(aka Karumaindo): Hey don't be surprised to see this here but I hear this establishment has been running non stop 24/7 since the 70s. There must be something they are doing right considering that many businesses of that nature have a high failure rate.

Lake Nakuru Lodge.

Its not a company yet but there is lady at the City Market opposite Aga Khan who runs a food joint called Nyaugenyas that can teach many companies something about Customer Service.
