If you have not acquired one, you can visit http://jolini.co.ke/ and contact Jolini Ltd which is a CCK approved supplier of Free to Air DVB-T2 decoders. I had one for Ksh.5,300 and it is great. Don't wait for the analogue signal is switched off.

I thought this things are controlled by cck and you cannot just acquire and start selling from anywhere unless type approved.

I also know this to be the case. I checked Jolini Ltd from the CCK website and found that it is in their approved supplier list. It is important to buy from the approved suppliers only since one is sure of the quality and compliance to the DVB-T2 standards/specifications. CCK also enforces the 12 months warranty for the set top boxes.

The deadline for cut-over to digital platform in Nairobi is 15th September 2013. I believe most Nairobians will still wait until the last moments to get themselves the required DVB-T2 set top boxes.

It seems the signal is widespread now. Soon it will engulf the entire nation.

Try http://nairobi.olx.co.ke.../search/set%2Btop%2Bbox

I am surprised that you have never claimed anything successfully on warranty. I once dropped a Sony digital camera; took it to the dealer on Kimathi street; they repaired it for free. They didn't even ask me what had happened - simply logged it into the workshop and asked me to pick it after three day.

Perhaps you've been buying from fake dealers... and now you want to buy fake stuff too!

I know a guy who's pioneering 'card sharing' services:

http://www.dream-multimedia-tv.co.uk/FAQ.htm

Basically, he sells you a pre-configured decoder that needs to be attached to a router, which decrypts satellite television channels on the fly. His setup can access DSTV signals and charges you (a certain amount) per month.

Be advised, it's illegal but it works (seen demonstration).

One of the better quality decoders in terms of picture quality and sensitivity of tuner happens to be Rockdale REL816-T2. You may find some discussions on this here.
Life is like playing a violin solo in public and learning the instrument as one goes on.

These HD DVB-T2 Set top box decoders now go for Ksh4500.
