and nephew to the then President...

married Juliette Lafargue..... a daughter of a wine seller.....

could not gain employment ....

on the test of his skin colour... he was too dark for the French liking.....

so he sought to take his expecting wife and two daughters back to Haiti.....

bought tickets for a French liner.... La France ....

but changed to the Titanic.....

after he learnt that his children would not be permitted to dine with them......

they boarded the 'palace of the sea'..... on Wednesday 10th day of April 1912.....

at Cherbourg,France...

and despite the racial insults.....

Laroche maintained that they were not there by mistake.....

and enjoyed their miniature holiday...

until the unspeakable horror of Sunday 14th day of April 1912....

the wife and daughters survived.....

and Joseph Lemercier Laroche Jnr was born...

daughters never married....

but son married and got two sons and a daughter......
