when I put the key into the ignition, it does not click as per normal. Changed the key battery. Car battery is OK. Ignition switch is OK. Key may be faulty. Had only one key. Any idea where I can buy the key and program. Not DT Dobie

Doors of opportunity don't just open , they have to be unlocked & it's up to you to turn the knob.

Sounds like the key is buggered. Since you don't want to go to DT Dobie, then you are out of luck. Only they are able to help you, as far as I know.

You tried google ?

Is the fob actually damaged?

... also for future ref. Avoid too many keys attached to the merc fob/key. While in the ignition, the weight of the keys affects eletronic connetion

Any response from the red/green lights on the rear view mirror?.....Again,it may not be the key.The circuit wires behind the ignition switch are notorious and you could have lost connection hence you cannot kick.
Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm.

No response from the light and the remote does not open the doors and booth.

Woow!.....It's not the key nor is it the switch. Most likely your security system has failed. You can try to re-boot by removing the batt terminals and back.If it doesn't work, wewe na DT Dobie.Pole!

This is a fob key. It is infra red. When the key is inserted, it has to sense the ignation socket for you to turn. Since it does not, key cannot turn, hence no dash board light.
