@Kusadikika, the senate is the weaker of the 2 houses of parliament. It cannot even initiate the process of impeachment which starts with the national assembly. I am still trying to understand why respected parliamentarians like Khalwale, Orengo and Mutula opted for the toothless senate while the NA is where the main job and power are. The senate can only deliberate on bills concerning counties while the NA can do either. The budget making process is under the NA with the senate dealing only with allocation among counties.

Two reasons.
1. Senator is perceived as senior to MP, that matters a lot to a politician.
2. While the senate is not that powerful at law making, the counties is where the money is and i suppose they will have a say at county level.

wait they will give teeth to the Senate just as ruto will bring power to the deputy presidency.

@blueman, I agree that the senator position appears more powerful though the senate is weaker than the NA. But the senator has no say in how funds are utilized in the county. That is for the county govt.
