I find this thing of saddling first ladies with causes a bit demeaning, especially if they were not doing it before. She should continue doing what she was doing before if there is no conflict of interest.
Take the case of Michelle Obama, top notch lawyer, but she supports causes on nutrition and stuff like that. Sure she cant practice but she can teach law, or do research. If the tables are turned, men wouldnt agree to be confined to charity work. Case in point Angela Merkel's husband is still a professor of chemistry at some university, and Julia Gillard's partner still gets to run his hairdressing business.
