Check out this very elaborate article that correctly predicted the transmission issue written in the Star two weeks ago. Looks like the IEBC and the parties knew the problems (even with small scale tests) would be there and still bungled it. Wow such incompetence

Set out to correct the world's wrongs and you will most certainly wind up adding to them.

You are right. There was no system analysis, architecting, design and sizing of any kind before billions were flushed down the line. Pity. There is deep IT expertise in this very town of ours that would have steered the commission away from the troubles its having right now. 14 million voters is a tiny dataset, shouldnt stymie IEBC so ...you could even do it with flat files

gladiator, what is your intention of posting this in every post and as much as you have on twitter?

@alma I must commend your sense of duty and restraint. I think the problem with this issue can be compared to hungry children on a queue for food, you have a window of time and it is important to serve before things get out of hand.

Let patience prevail.

Meanwhile @whiteafrican has provided path for the data from polling station to IEBC API: http://iebctechkenya.tumblr.com...he-data-from-the-polling

1. Polling station uses Safaricom SIM cards »
2. app installed in phone »
3. transmitted via Safaricom’s VPN »
4. Servers hosted/managed by Next Technologies »
5. API hosted by JapakGIS »
6. Google hosted website at http://vote.iebc.or.ke

Then the problem is at Next Technologies or JapakGIS. From what i've read online.

Not too fast, everyone is covering their ass. Realise information only needs to be transmitted via Safaricom VPN and land at the servers hosted/managed by Next Technologies for us to see the Bomas reports.

So the issue lies with one of these two. Notice Safaricom is involved in steps 1-3, Next Tech in step 4. Whether API to newsrooms was working or not would be a side issue.
