Gross salaries capped as:

Prezzo 1.24M down from 2.0M
Mpigs 535K from 851K
Gavana 640K from the proposed 1.1M

I can make more money than an MPig and Governers in some most business ventures if we both play fair.

And this is why this price fixing will lead to corruption and ineptitude.

And they join Nabutola and will never seek elective positions. But seriously, how will the payslips look after deducting PAYE,NSSF,NHIF,sacco shares etc, most may end up with a net of 75k.
Lolest!

We may want these guys to earn very low salaries but then this would mean only the affluent get to vie as there is no compensation for the bribery/extortion/begging that we subject our leaders to.

Politics must be taken to the free market where value can be exchanged.

I hope next time we'll be discussing the income packages/ voter/time that leaders are offering. And each leader is allowed to quote his price.

I can imagine some politicians will ask for zero pay while in office.

Parties will be 'serious' institutions, and politics will be a delicacy.

On the contrary, mature issue andpolicy based politics are quite drab. Italy went to polls a few days ago, right? Yet many are oblivious to the fact because the central issues are the poor state of the Italian economy, public debt with the euro and EEC thrown in the mix. Its like a macro economic debate. We prefer colourful politics, with songs, proverbs and smears even though it is very bad for us. Kenyans love their dose of entertainment.

Hahaha! @quicksand, the Italians are not a good example. They are under austerity and debt crises.

Again, politics must involve all cultural elements, we don't have to miss a thing.

It is not the debt and austerity that dulls the Italian politics, its the players. Mario Monti is an austere academic compared to the lecherous Berlusconi. France's Sarkozy had his palace intrigues with people like Rachida Dati involved in cat fights with the first lady Carla Bruni ...; He told a citizen to f off in front of cameras!!! In contrast, Hollande is very boring. But you are right, we can have fully engaging politics without losing sight of important issues.

Monti, Berlusconi, Strauss Kahn, I see plenty of despair in them.

It's like the statesman has nothing else to do but try to put a brave face by playing macho.

Putin doing somersaults. That's needed in Russia.
