KK tech readings tea leaves - Bearish RSI, bearish stochastics and constricting bollinger bands. Large move ahead, but from the bear chart pattern, downside risks outweight a bullish move. Also falling trendline since topping out @16.40 on Jul 3 2012 has been the guardrail as price slid to current levels. Downside targets 13/- and 12.50/- Breach of 12.50/- will see price dropping to 11/-

Anxiously waiting for those ulcers inducing KK results...

Stated back in Jan 30 2013.

VWAP closed @12.65/- Breaking below 12.50/- will see losses accelerate as many wanjikus are shaken out by the hard hammering.

Still a good stock to hold long term due to the hydrocarbon ace game.

Meanwhile the TOTL has finally broken out. A bullish break the opposite of KK.

Quite interesting the breakouts are happening just before the elections.

Those counters on bullish breakouts should rally hard if the polls conclude peacefully.

That PUMA deal could be off for now, going by their behavior in the market..... It could be a PR stunt, however a keen eye will note they are back to their ways of shorting the fuel market, which had been shelved when PUMA came into the picture! Maybe they are in to regain the market leadership! However right now the oil industry is extremely susceptible .... look at the international prices, being hedged or not is equally dangerous! But then again stocks prices can be surprising (still learning)!

Seems Puma [like many other investors] are taking a wait & see approach. It makes sense to wait it out until after the elections just in case a few stations are destroyed, etc... Let's hope it does not come to that but better safe than sorry. Plus the price might drop if biwott decides to cut & run!

My delusions. I am a Buffettian so even if there is no (speculative) takeover, I expect to make money. I do my research, take a position. And wait. I buy more when prices fall [classic Buffett strategy] as long as core fundamentals remain similar.

I did the same with a stock which many dismissed (or thankfully were not interested in)... I kept my cool, waited... [2 more years than expected coz of PEV 2008] and I am very happy with the results. Sold some. Now re-deploying the cash by looking for more KK now that the price has fallen below 13. Happy Days Applause Applause Applause

@vvs - I expect fear to strike very soon. I hope that shakeout forces the price below 10. That will be awesome fear that needs to be bought into...

The fall below 13.00 has caught my eye and i might just buy some more.

The tricky thing is how the market will take the results. the deal is still on, otherwise we would have known and the price wouldnt be as high as now

Me too! If I am OK with sub-13, how exciting would it be sub-10? [Of course, I assume a peaceful post-election]

This will go in favor of KK though it will be one of those time-wasting cases.

As usual, the idiots in the legislature, KRA & Ministry of Finance come up with confusing and ambiguous laws that serve no end but benefit lawyers as these cases end up in court after KRA harasses the firms.

Recently, KRA went after BBK, which had to spend lot of money on lawyers going to court. Then KRA withdrew the false assessment.

Another case is KRA going after Coca-Cola bottler for Shs 5.3bn for washing & re-using recyclable glass bottles. The irony is that now more PET (plastic) bottles are used. These create landfill problems vs locally produced (& reusable) glass bottles.

Why KK (it's impressive network) is important for Puma/Trafigura. KK has figured out the logistics of moving fuel from Mombasa, Tanga & Dar all the way to Zambia.

KK is in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, Zambia & Ethiopia.
It is in the top 3 in Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda & Burundi. It has 80 stations in Ethiopia. Recently (2011/12), it has built or acquired storage facilities in Uganda, Tanzania, Burundi & Zambia.

http://www.businessdaily...2/-/u6tvj1/-/index.html

Oil traders with Gulf operations based in Dubai are looking to sell into an East African market now worth $15 billion a year to supply oil products to power emerging economies growing on the back of a rising population and robust mining activity.

Kuwait’s International Petroleum Group (IPG) has shipped fuel to ports dotted along the coast for more than a decade, fighting alongside established suppliers like trader Trafigura and local companies like Gapco Kenya.

Apart from IPG and Trafigura, which operates in Africa through its subsidiary Puma...

“Part of the attraction of East Africa is that it opens up to the interior, into Zambia and Uganda. There’re lots of companies interested in placing product into these markets if they can optimise the logistics,” Still said.

This tax will not affect OMC unless they hold Oil Exploration blocks. That is the spirit of the law. I wonder if the so called experts read the budget speech.

Kenol kobil has a trading desk hence it will be a target for acquisition with the east africa oil boom, if puma bails out, another will come and bid for it..it is only a matter of time.
