Haiya! That's exactly the year and town Jomo(RIP) died. What could be the relation? In August, when the news broke, everyone in Nairobi was confused, but it was a very peaceful transition, thanks to Kenyatta and his philosophy of Umoja na Amani and Kenyans were known as a peaceful people and haven since till 1982 reforms.
