My studies, thought, and overall experience as a being (including prayer and revelation), have finally brought me to a point where I can define 'religion' usefully.

To me religion is the set of acts, ideas, symbols, rituals and language that is used to remind and guide one on identity, purpose and morality.

To answer these questions, one must always look beyond himself and to a greater being. Yet this reference to a greater being must always end up with Man and God in a perfect and mutual relationship.

I have found the above ideas to be affirmed by all religion.

In my quest, I have found no contention in religious truth, but instead I have found deep contention amongst believers and cultures.

I have been interested with the conflict between Christianity and Islam in particular, and my conclusion is that there is a gross misunderstanding somewhere. The two are really one.

I have looked into the archives and have seen most Wazuan sentiments on the conversion of Christians to Islam, and it has been clear to me that the objections provided by both sides haven't been satisfactory, and have been more about culture than theology.

One needs religion because of the way society is structured, and more so, the individual requires personal growth in a world with so many things that without memory life would be impossible.

Hence rituals, and gatherings, and an individual's actions.

To cut a long story short, I have decided to embrace a religion that embraces all religions.

I will pray and worship like a Muslim, upholding the straight path, meditate like Buddha, and live the Man God.

All mythology is sacred, yet our understanding is changing.

My religion must also include indiscriminate conversation and love, and a candid pursuit of truth.

Ah,tycho.I came to the same conclusion too. In my opinion no religion advocates for hate and injustices but truth and love.

@harrydre - What is the alternative you are suggesting?

"My people perish for a lack of knowledge"

I always wonder how a conversation between Jesus and Buddha would go.Would they really exchange words.

Buddha and Christ, what is their essential difference? I find none.

If they were to exchange words, their conversation would merge with the music of the spheres.

Exactly. But seeing them even meet and how they would greet each other would be interesting.

Yes. I guess their words would be unfamiliar to most of us.

After watching "Zeitgeist: The Movie" I decided not to pursue further research into religion. The answers seem to be elusive.

Charity begins at home? Why not start by re-thinking yourself... then your siblings, parents, children etc

@harrydre - Zeitgeist shook me for a while then I realized you've got to find the truth out for yourself if you really care about truth.Because even if someone supposedly brings 'truth' to you(me or anyone else) how will you know what truth is. FYI,many of the things he was saying have been debunked.Too many loopholes.

@Mukiri - Religion is the strongest institution apart from science that defines the self. So to rethink yourself you have to rethink what you have been taught in religion and personalize it.

I enjoy, and participate in art. I am particularly interested in music, installation art, film and theater, poetry, and criticism. I can say I am an artist.

Religion is more of art, isn't it?

The answers 'seem', but aren't elusive. Patience and perseverance are needed.

In what way?

I think more of a scientist. But I'm obsessed with the beauty of art.

you see in your quest for the truth, you still have to rely on other people's work which might not necessarily be the truth. This definitely paints an image of a dog chasing it's tail.

Then don't seek truth.Seek to understand what truth should be and through the process of elimination you will be left with truth.Just like science.
