Who are Kenya's biggest tax payers that finance our budget?? Isn't it BAT, Vodafone, Diageo, Lafarge?? Isn't it exporters like KQ??

Who are the biggest buyers of CBK bonds?? Isn't it Barclays & Stanchart!

When sanctions hit and the above are banned from operating what exactly will sustain the economy?

So, you are saying BAT, Vodafone, diageo, Lafarge collect taxes from their debt ridden economies and give it to KRA? Only @mahegoat and/or @mukiri can fall for this.

These firms actually milk our economy. Its non-africans like you that live here in Africa and spread your 'white supremacy' nonsense and mental enslavement, fool and corrupt civil servants.

@dunkang yes these firms milk our economy but do you see any Kenyans setting up rival firms to compete with these guys??

The fact is reliance is not only about aid.. If their governments ban these guys from operating in Kenya who will fill the gap in taxes & services that will arise??

Kwani this CFA is gotten from River Road? What kind of reasoning is this? So you agree that they are milking our economy dry, but then go ahead to give reasons why they should stay and keep milking us, just so they can pay taxes? RETARDED!!!

As a Nationalist, this is GOOD for me to hear.

KENYA'S ECONOMY DOES NOT NEED EUROPE

I am surprised that your view of the 'Kenyan economy' is so narrowly defined that relations with the EU are considered in the light of presence or absence of sanctions.

Economies and organizations and entrepreneurs in a globalized 'world' are moving more towards market maximization models.

So, we will remain in the nethers if we don't look at the EU as a potential market for products and interpersonal or organization relations.

We shouldn't just follow the Bretton guys without question, for even their analysis of Europe is wanting.

@Nabwire Economics 101: GOK has a budget that is sustained by taxes and borrowing... Currently taxes sustain about 75% - 80% of the budget leaving 20% -25% for borrowing... This was probably why the team thinks Kenya is self sustaining!

But I was merely pointing out that the biggest tax payers are foreign multinationals & our dear exporters and the biggest lenders to GOK are foreign banks!

Lets not even go into how the clothes on our backs are imported!
Lets not even go into how you will not be able to send money home!

The big question is who finances the budget when they leave??

Kenya can't survive without the EU.

1. 24.1% of Kenyan exports go to the EU i.e Horticulture, Maize, Tobacco, Tea and Coffee. Other big export markets include the US which are likely to follow what ever other western governments decide.

2. 15% of Kenya's budget is financed by western government in the form of AID.

So what will happen if sanctions come along

1. Kenya's exports will tumble resulting in massive lay offs and widening of the current account deficit...you will have a scenario where forex reserves are not able to cater even for oil imports...long ques at petrol stations will be an order.

2. The KES will tumble as business rush to buy any dollars on the market to cover themselves...considering limited support in term of dollar inflows from exports i.e coffee...the CBK will not be able to defend the KES.

3. Stagflation will follow. Hyperinflation+massive unemployment+sliding economy=Stagflation. Kenyan assets will be devalued...you saw what happened in 2011 when inflation went to 20%...both the equities and the bond markets tanked...by then SBB's will not be able to save local banks...the contagion means they disappear into oblivion.

4. Government revenues will take a hit...resulting in a "twin deficit"...you expect GoK to print money at that stage just to pay workers salary...but KES100,0000 will get you nothing at that stage...so a KES1,000,000,000 note will be introduced, by then there will be massive street protests...as people realize they need something to eat.

5. Last straw...Dollarisation! With Dollarisation comes its challenges i.e GoK wont be able to raise money through T-Bills etc...so GoK remains as broke as ever.

GUESS WHAT THE WORLD BANK WILL NEVER BE THERE TO SAVE KENYA...AFTER ALL THIS BLOODY BRETTON WOODS ORGANISATIONS ARE WESTERN MACHINES OF SLAVERY...LOOK AT WHAT THEY HAVE DONE TO MALAWI.

The NSE will be at 0-2000...that's when @thedeal will comeback and say...pride and ignorance does not pay..half of Wazuans will never want to talk about the NSE or hear the word sanctions.smile

So vote wisely!

The IMF should stop playing politics in Kenya. RAO might be socialist...it doesnt mean they start telling lies.
