Unfortunately the majority of those who have the vote don't vote in baby-faced characters. That's according to a study by some Researchers on American voters and baby-faced candidates. I don't know if it only applies to Americans and am just wondering why majority of Kenyans don't think PK is competent enough to be the next President, despite putting CDF money into great use in Gatanga.

You are right. But there is an even greater and more immediate loss that no no one is talking about:

Think about the following people:

1. Raila Odinga
2. Uhuru Kenyatta
3. Musalia Mudavadi
4. Kalonzo Musyoka
5. Marth Karua
6. Peter Kenneth
7. Charity Ngilu
8. William Ruto

This time next year at least 6 out 8 of the above will not be in public service in any capacity.

Between them they represent more that 100 years of experience in serving Kenya (whether you like their politics is besides the point).

Can our nation afford to lose such a massive amount of talent, just when we are embarking on the most challenging constitutional and economic program in our history?

Not only can we afford to loose them, we want to. What experience do they bring? Looting, impunity, selfishness et al Aren't we all for empowering the youth? Creating opportunities? Exploiting new talents and leadership? Let these old guys also learn how to herd goats.. adds to longevity

Yes we can. Most of them are talented in corruption, tribalism, useless politics and other ills. I won't name names.

Raphael Tuju was the first MP to be praised on CDF management. Unfortunately He served only one term. Is that why no one talks of Him?

I must say I expected this. A knee-jerk reaction driven more by emotion than reasoning.

If this lot of leaders, and there type are so bad, how come we vote for them every time?

The fact is we need them, even if only for the purpose of reflecting our true corrupt natures back at us. For indeed if we put corrupt, incompetent, racist/tribalistic people in power, and knowingly too; what does that say about us?

But let us be positive for a change: we have banked over 20 years of tremendous socio-political and economic change in our country. Change which we now take for granted even as we demand better leaders (leaders we would not recognize if they bit us in the backside).

Guess which leaders brought these benefits? The same lot we are about to chuck into the dustbin – with a change project that has barely taken off. And exactly where shall we get the leaders to help us complete the reforms that have started? Right here in corrupt Kenya.

We are about to hand over the scalpel to an inexperienced surgeon, mostly because we don’t like the look of the one who did the first half of the operation. The fact that no one seems to think this is a concern bothers me.

And if you think the untested lot of greenhorns we are about to assure into power are angels, wait and see.
