In a statement issued immediately following the speech, which met with applause in the General Assembly hall, United States Mission to the UN spokesman Mark Kornblau said, “Rather than representing the aspirations and goodwill of the Iranian people, Mr. Ahmadinejad has yet again chosen to spout vile conspiracy theories and anti-Semitic slurs that are as abhorrent and delusional as they are predictable.”

Some quick reading would tell you that Ahmedinajad has been locked in power struggle with Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. It is these outrageous outbursts that keep the guy relevant.
