I guess I'm confused.

"It doesn't matter if sanctions happen since Kenya is sovereign and China will help us."

"I've been saying sanctions will never happen and I'm bloody excited and screaming in my undies."

These two statements made by the same man.

I guess I'm now totally confused.

The envoy was categorical that the cases of four Kenyans before the International Criminal Court (ICC) will not necessarily lead to isolation of the whole country.

This is enough emphasis, in any case other diplomats will follow soon hopefully, no way they can support land reforms as espoused by Rao.

I like his choice of words I must say

Do you realize the guy is not coming out clearly? what is hard in a direct statement like "UK will not isolate Kenya"

It's just that they are slowly coming to the full realisation that their plot might not work afterall. They have to be slow on being direct too.

What is everybody dancing on about, "will not necessarily" will become full sanctions the minute UHURUTO government interprets the constitution to mean a sitting president cannot be prosecuted while in office and gives ICC the middle finger.

And the statement by the envoy is text book envoy speak, "we will be impartial......"

I hope you didn't expect him to publicly declare his support for a specific candidate

No single country or envoy or UN official or anybody WITH A WORKING BRAIN concerning democracy has opposed Uhuru or Ruto running, this is a creation of i don't know who. Weka LINK! There is absolutely no logic in barring candidates simply because they have an ongoing court case in which they are fully cooperating! It will never happen, wake me up when one single envoy opposes any of the two running for elective post, It is perfectly legal, it is democracy and it will happen that Uhuruto will be in power in three months time! The ICC cases (Please understand it was a referral , ICC had requested Kenya to sort out these cases before) will then be immediately referred back to Kenya, and you know all charges will be dropped. In any case Isreal, Sudan, USA have all ditched ICC because they were to face charges, and blocked/rescinded to ICC, and have henceforth no legal obligations for signing up to ICC, it's NOTHING NEW. Remember Kenyatta came out of jail as a convicted terrorist to rule, Mandela came out of prison as a convicted terrorist to rule. Even Clinton was impeached and continued to rule till a verdict was found. Kapondi the Mt Elgon suspect was allowed to run. The voice of the people is the voice of God. No one punishes good democracy, hio ni uwongo tupu!
