Kwani there is no PAYE in Zimbabwe? They should just tax whoever they have paid, and the cycle continues. Or is it dollar reserves? Receive with simplicity everything that happens to you.” ― Rashi

Alas! The Zim budget is currently a cash budget. The T-Bill mkt is yet to be revived post-09 & that's how that can happen.

Think about this way, you have a jobo and you're broke 2 days to pay day does that change the fact that you're gainfully employed? No. Due to the limitations of a cash budget, you try explain to your buddies that the party (referendum & elections) they are insisting on (SADC, the West), they should then buy the food, drinks & you'll do the hosting. Where is SADC when 'you' need to be bailed out? If you have built castles in the air, your work need not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them.

This is interesting. I can't even stop cracking up. You mean a whole country of I don't know how many people has $217? Man, I had not seen this post but this is mind numbing. But then again, why are they asking for aid when they can simply depend on themselves? May be they got fed up with the system and said to hell with it. You see, God is a thoughtful dude to start, with regardless of whether you believe in him or not but my point is this. When he created this place, he put everything needed as Darwin puts it, animals, not human beings, he made sure that the place had everything to ensure the animals survival. But this is where it gets tricky. Man as usual wants control and what means does he use? Money, media, laws, police, education, weapons, you name it. For us Africans, we are a morally upright people I see it coming to a point where we will have to choose between what is legally right and what is morally right and at the rate at which we Africans are embracing these Western values, we will only make ourselves become extinct. For instance, in the case of oil now that kenya's got oil, do we ever think about what the next phase will be if that oil is depleted? Nowadays, people are moving into the cities in droves from the country side and as a result, the traditions or the basics of life such as cooking, growing food, etc are being eroded simply because we tend to forget our own roots and adopt other peoples. I say this because majority of the idiots that I meet in these western countries are just consumers. If you give them shit, they will eat shit and trend is catching up in Kenya. A good example is that of a people who know how to cook but instead dine at kfc. The children end up not knowing crap about cooking, are kfc eating crap idiots for the rest of their lives and that crap they eat is poison, then they go to Kenyatta hospital or for the affluent, Nairobi hospital and start treating shit with more shit and in that little brain of yours, you are telling yourself that you gonna get well or you cant see a traditional doctor because you either think it doesn't work, its bullshit or you are of the notion that you are civilized and to me, thats simply beyond my understanding. And then we keep on crying for aid when in actual sense, we got all the capabilities these people have, the only difference is that we let a few individuals get crafty and sometimes, they themselves don't know that they are screwing up an entire generation. Sometimes I told to some of the old folks who inform me that there used to be numerous tribes but some of them were put into extinction by the british forces at that time. On a scale of one to trigger happy land, how joyful do you think these idiots and a few of their african puppets are when the masses are wallowing in poverty as the idiots stash their loot in Switzland? The education system is somehow useful up to a certain degree but it starts getting to a point where one starts wondering whether education is just for show for those who want it, others want to elevate their status/living conditions while others just do it for the sake of it without ever questioning the reasoning behind it. Education is not something that can be acquired in 4 years, its a lifelong process through out human history. I could rant all day long but to cut the story short, I believe that we as Africans should start realizing that we don't need a third leg when we already have two legs that perform whatever we need them to do. The chopping of the third leg will ensure that our future generations will have a place to thrive in. Unnegarization 101. Energy.

Unnegarization 101. while i agree with some of your assertions, you cannot blame the people moving from their rural homes to the urban areas or eating at KFC. we all know that these people are the people graduating from the low income bracket to the middle income bracket. As such they have a higher amount of disposable income. Their going to KFC or even moving to the urban areas are in my view beyond their control. This is because for them to have that drive and desire to work for a better income hence better living standards they had to have a certain level to aspire to. This standard has been set by the developed countries. Vision 2030 basically aims for us to be a middle income country. For that to happen we take stock of our progress by comparing our economy to that of countries that have already attained this milestone. Had there been no middle income economy to compare themselves to, our economy would have morphed into uncharted territories and people would only strive to better their current living conditions based on their current way of life i.e better coking methods, or growing food. So we expect even more people to go to KFC, for guys to wear shorts, a comfortable pair of loafers maybe throw in a fedora and ladies to wear their summer dresses, maasai sandals a pair of sunglasses with their chihuahuas tagging along as they attend blankets and wine because that's the life of a middle class citizen no?
