want to acquire a Golf V,looking for a manual,1.6/2.0 can consider diesel option.. preferable black/red. Low Mileage..

Can consider importing if its a viable option.

Consider a Passat, comes highly recommended for its agility, enhanced legroom and class. A 2002 1.8T was good to me. I think it'd set you back between that 800k and 1M.

How about automatic. There are more in the market than manual. Like: This one

I'm also curious about how much a VW Passat 1.9 TDi would cost

(something like this one http://www.wisebuyers.co...ions/Volkswagen/Passat+(2001-05)/VW003200/ )

This is for the future (~ 2 years)

@Mkimwa - can you really get a golf Mk V (hehe... low mileage) at less than 1m? Or did you mean a V5 which is 2.3ltr petrol (Mk IV).?

@Tuvok - check here ... as a guide check here http://www.autotrader.co.uk/ If you are not able to access/search,send me an email motobex@ymail.com and I will guide you through on how to search for any vehicle......... ( at the risk of antagonizing my fellow UK/European car exporters).

Cars listed in auto trader are not always as described, you may need more info as to the condition of the car, hence you will need me to check out the car of you choice.

@ JKMwatha..
I want the Golf V. not the golf IV. how much would it cost?

Actually..
When i want to import a japanese car.. there are very many sites/ people to guide along, due to popularity of Toyotas,nissans..e.t.c.

What abt a VW/BMW/audi/Renault/Citreon/Jaguar - those european models.. how does one source them?

@Mkimwa -

Golf Mk5 - post 2003... From £4k (@129) = Ksh520k

As you said the volume/popularity of cars frm Japan... hence competittion etc

Anyway as I showed earlier start off here

http://www.autotrader.co.uk/ Here you will be asked to enter a postcode
Use one of mine NW2 5AB. Ensure you also include the space. ...and you're in! Select details of vehicles you're looking for.

http://motors.ebay.co.uk/ is another site.

Be diligent, dont trust everything you see. There is a lot more you need to know.

Then you need to consider inspection (JEVIC) and Freight and Insurance.

Let me know if you have problems trying to access the sites.

@ Mkimwa:

I've looked into sourcing the Golf V with the specs of manual transmission,1.6/2.0 engine, petrol or diesel, preferably in black or red, with low mileage and a budget of 800k.

Unfortunately what is available (for the year 2002 and later) doesn't match your specs.

The exact car(s) you can get with your specs will cost you Ksh. 1.1M or more.

The compromises you will need to make in order as to get your car at or below Ksh. 800k include having to accept cars with:

(A) High Mileage

(B) Automatic Transmission

(C) Colours other than red or black

If you can let us know if the above compromises are acceptable, then we can identify some sample cars for you to consider (from both the UK and from Japan) that match your budget.

Feel free to write me at petermutooni@yahoo.com if you have questions.

@ tuvok

The approximate cost of a VW Passat 1.9 (2002) is about Ksh. 1.2M. In two years, all things being the same,a 2004 version should cost around the same.

Here is one that may be of interest:

Is is true that the 8 year limit is being replaced by 12 years from next year?.........i think we can wait. Have seen some pretty old 'low mileage' cars that are worth waiting for.
