CRACKS...
A very tall building that had been in use for many years, suddenly developed a dangerous crack in a wall on the 42nd floor.
The director and owner of the company became worried at the situation and immediately summoned an architect to investigate the problem. When the architect arrived, the director took the lift to the 42nd floor to meet the man.
The director could not find the architect anywhere, he became very upset when he learnt that the architect was spotted in the basement of the building. He immediately set off for the basement, and when he found the architect there, he annoyingly asked “what in the world are you doing down here in the basement.......when the crack that needs your immediate attention is on the 42nd floor”
The Architect answered : “Sir there may be a crack on the 42nd floor above, but the problem does not lie there The problem lies here in the foundation of the building.” Then it came out, that a security guard that worked there, wanted to build a garage at his home. The guard did not have enough money so every evening before he went home he would
take the lift down to the basement of the building and there he would chisel and remove a brick or two out of the wall. He then put it in his rucksack
and took it home.
This was the reason that over time a crack appeared at the 42nd floor of the building, and this crack was visible for all to see. When we look around us today, we see many people that have serious cracks on the 42nd floor of their lives.........
- Things are going wrong, tempers flare
- Stress is taking it’s toll.
- Financial problems are appearing
- Marriages are crumbling
- Their love for God is diminishing.
- Sexual relationships are taking place outside of the marriage
- Temptations become irresistible etc-etc...
Then so often we run to the 42nd floor of the building to try and save what is left to save........ But the problem does not lie there on the 42nd floor.
The problem must be sought at the . foundation of the building...... The fault must be searched for in . the hearts of the people with cracks. . But do you know what is so tragic... . many times the cracks are caused by . us, allowing our foundation to be messed –
Many times, due to the continued ignoring of the cracks, a crisis is develops.
The Bible teaches us in Math 7 and in 1 Cor 3 that we are a building of God, and Jesus is the foundation of that building.
If we begin to remove the foundation (Jesus the Rock) out of our lives the 42nd floor of building will begin to crack and with time the building will collapse !!
In other words... should you notice a crack appearing in your foundation, give it immediate attention......don’t wait, for the building to collapse
