Some people just don't get it-presenting some plans for slum upgrade or low cost housing or whatever for the poor in some plush hotel in town and to an audience composing of rich people is just comical. How does this guy expect to connect with the people with the votes-the people that matter? I love his kind of politics but............

How not to win an election in Kenya.Instead of giving each of the slum dwellers 10kgs of unga,1 kg of sugar,500gms of cooking fat and an allowance of 1000 bob on the eve of nominations to slum dwellers,he will be at Hilton enjoying a 5 course meal while Waititu will be in the slums facilitating voters.Mbaru is setting himself up for failure.

True that. Probably Mbaru doesn't believe in freebies but the slum dwellers do. Maybe he could have played the game their way for the time being and their hearts might just have warmed up to his grandiose ideas when he presented them to them. And probably hope that once they are living in those decent low cost houses they would change and politics to them will never be about 50 BOB again.

Mbaru's choice of Hilton is just wrong. Am sure prospective voters from machinani won't be allowed past the security barriers. He should have done it kamukunji, Kicc or Uhuru park, just like presidential candidates did it.

i think he has the mindset of the corporate sector where the no of shares determines ones voting power, such that you can campaign in 5 star hotels. In siasa it's one man one vote, so you go where the voters are.

He has a full page on Nation Pg 51 detailing his vision for Nairobi. If he can deliver them, they sound great ideas. Problem is: The majority of voters, especially on nomination day, shall not even read his vision. They dont have access to this info. So they will vote based on the unga's dished out.

its actually a good thing that he loses to waititu or kidero. This dude is just talk and no action. When he was appointed chairman of national cereals and produce board, he had a real opportunity to confront one of kenya's paradoxes i.e. bumper maize harvest always followed by starvation. Does anyone remember him doing anything worth mentioning at ncpb? And here we are buying his promises of transforming the city. Anyway its your funeral guys, mimi ni mtu wa kajiado and we aee voting Dr nkedienye.

Jimnah may not go far, i hear he goes to campaign in the slums atop a trailer waving at the slum dwellers, and when he ventures into the slums he does so holding his nose owing to the stench.

YT2 may bag it given that he has been representing the most populous constituency in Nairobi, if not Kenya.

UMK should realise that as much as he wants Mbaru to oil the campaign machinery, at the end of the day its about having the Nairobi Governorship in your party.

At the end of the day, id relish a battle between Kidero and YT2.
