A fellow who tried to overthrow the government would only dream of such an opportunity. If he had gone to court no people would have been killed. instead he started crying in front of cameras. Keep it simple

That would have been a high risk gamble that could have backfired very spectacularly...whether it would have worked would depend on the intelligence and Armed Forces, which I think were not in his corner. The parallel gava would have flopped and then charges of treason would follow very very swiftly
