I have often heard people talk of 2017 as Kenya's next general election year. My observation and conclusion however point to a date not earlier than August 2018 as follows:

According to our Constitution 2010 elections are to be held on the 2nd Tuesday of every fifth year. Therefore,

March 4, 2013-2014; 2014-2015; 2015-2016;2016-2017; 2017-August, 2018 gives us the term of the next government.

The term will last a total of 53 months (7 months less of 5 years):
Months: (3*12)+9+8 = 53 months.

Conventional thinkers waste time building shelters when they are unnecessary and then have no shelters when they need them the most. Socionomists do the opposite.

The fifth year is the Parliament year starting from 4th March 2017,therefore elections should be on the second Tuesday, August 2017.
