When making a decision of a location to build reside in and around Nairobi,
One of the key decision points is availability of good and reliable water supply.

I don't like the idea of borehole water, i like the idea of dam water . treated and supplied,

Apart of Nairobi City Council, which other council around Nairobi provides dam water

I know Ruiru Municipal is building a dam, don't know much details about it.
i've heard of a Gituamba dam to be built in Gatundu North, which residents will benefit from this?

Also, how comes no other council around Nairobi provides sewerage facilities, forcing people to use septic tanks all over.

This system will not be sustainable in the long run as population grows

@subzero, since the enactment of Water Act 2002, there is no City, Municipal, Town nor county Council that provide Water Supply and Wastewater (sewer) services.
On source of water, that is not important as long as the water is treated before supply. FYI, there are no water and sanitation companies around Nairobi metro that provide adequate water, so, use the little you get sparingly.

On sewerage, i was in the team that designed ruiru sewerage system, and Athi Water Services Board have put the project as a priority but will take some time since the design will need to be revised due to the unexpected settlement pattern ithat we had not foreseen. The construction of the bypass and superhighway have messed the sewer pipes design and treatment works design.

@Sub, there are some areas in Nairobi that receive good water supply due to their topography, ie they are in low lying areas that water gravitates to, or are along transmission water lines. For example, parts of Kasarani, Marurui that are adjacent to a trunk main or Dandora that is low lying.

Sad Sad Sad
Conventional thinkers waste time building shelters when they are unnecessary and then have no shelters when they need them the most. Socionomists do the opposite.

Since 1989, Thika Municipality has had EXCESS water!

I think they still remain the most watered local authority.

But with the influx of Nairobians (courtesy of Superhighway), I wonder whether they will be able to cope... Time will tell
