Someone please clarify.

How will round 1 work, for an outright win, will one require 50% + 1 of the votes cast or of the registered voters.

Article 138 sub-article 4 of our constitution says:

A candidate shall be declared President if the candidate receives -

a) more than half of all votes cast in the election; and
b) at least twenty-five per cent of the votes cast in each of more than half of the counties.

However in a run off, sub-article 7 provides:
The candidate who receives the most votes in the fresh election shall be declared elected as President.

Thanks @Liv

Votes cast means either CORD or Jubilee can choose to go all out for a first round win

Yes, its very difficult, however it would have been virtually impossible if it were of registered voters. But jubilee must either win first round or lose everything

Interesting. So say out of 14M reg voter, 70% vote. That means the winner needs slightly above 4.9M votes to win?

What each party will need in the first round is lots of victories for governor and representative positions. this give them the much needed momentum and aura of vistory as they go into the second round.
