As we continue wasting time and energy focussing on tribal coalitions (I am also guilty here), perhaps we should also look at issues that need addressing. I for one, would like my new President to tackle:

1. Corruption: this is getting out of hand, and would love to see some big fish go down;

2. GOK expenditure: Bloated civil service that does not even deliver basic services needs trimming fast;

3. Nairobi City Council: that this beast be tamed, and made into a productive animal?

I think it's given that we will vote ethnically in this coming elections.

That said I thin people should with their heads for the Governors as these are the county CEOs. I think the Nairobi Governor should address these issues in the first term, I would if I had the money to run and I'm pushing them to Jimnah (the person I think can best implement).

1. Address transport (Roads, railway, parking, mikokoteni, bikes, get rid of 14 seaters and enforce discipline)

2. Environment. Get rid of all plastic packaging and polythene paper bags in one year (controversial but must to be done!)

3. Security (We all know the problems here)

4. End harassment of legitimate businesses.

CORD is proposing to tax idle land, which is all well and good if one is hoarding hundreds if not thousands of acres of idle land. however, what about we the middle class who own a small plot or two, which we intend to bequeath our kids or develop when interest rates come down or when the area opens up? middle class we had better pay attention to the manifestoes by the various parties. rink today' star headline.
also, RAO said he will go after stolen public property, which is all well and good. if anyone here owns an apartment in kileleleshwa, you may have reason to be worried as the land probably once belonged to the Govt, some big shot then grabbed/bought at throw away price, and sold to a developer who then put up the many apartment blocks there. the conduit company was then de-registered at registrar of companies. so come march 5 2013 and you may just see a big tinga tinga outside your apartment block.

I also think we should vote for Governors with some level of thought, beyond just tribal bias. These are the people who will count.
