Though i totaly disagree with Raila's populist statement on KQ, and the fact he represent a conflict of interest (he owns precision air), KQ management (GoK, KLM etc) is the one that is sending this to 5/-.

Thought it was owned by KQ and the founder? How much does rao own

Foreign investors must have taken note of the ruling and downgraded Kenya in their list. It was socialist.

That notwithstanding, the KQ management had handled the matter with some high handedness and tactlessly.

Hey. You are contradicting yourself bwana.

There was nothing wrong in the judgement, what you should be fighting is the law that the judgement was based on. KQ admin should style up. You cannot 447 kenyans on basis of cost cutting, yet you hire more expensive foreigners, raise management wages and allowances. Further, KQ jurt targeted some workers, all pregnant women, union officials etc.

How many companier retrench and there are no cases?

This will definatley scare foreign investors , the free market does need to prevail in Kenya or investors will shy away. Our labor laws are already harsh please don't make them any harder. We need the FDI to grow

Why would foreign investors be scared off?? What KQ did would be illegal in any country! Why do you think the management is not putting up much of a fight against the ruling!?

As many others have said, a company cannot fire people on the BASIS OF COST CUTTING and at the same time raise management's wages and hire expatriates!

Since the reason for the firing these workers is not valid given the circumstances then it amounts to wrongful termination!

Titus should meet MOO for tips on successful retrenchment of workers! smile

Lets not think like villagers. Retrenchments/downsizing/sacking etc happen daily everywhere and we don't hear cases.

Why?

1. Follow the constitution,
2. Follow the kenyan labour laws,
3. Follow the employment contract
4. Use common sense in interpreting the law.

And the discussion will be about how cash strapped KQ is and cannot meet its obligation hence requiring a Government bailout failure to which KQ will do “a jetlink”
