Kenya Railways has now partnered with Double M - Public Service Vehicle operators to provide rail connect services to your destination. The rail connect buses will deliver you to Syokimau railway station from Mlolongo area, Syokimau, Athi River JKIA, and Kitengela. You can then board the train to town. @money....moot point, mains electricity could be thermal, nuclear, hydro doesn't matter. Mains = Grid. Point I was making is they don't burn diesel or other fuel to generate power or electric energy.
Meanwhile, can someone update us on how the commuter rail is running! Unless the current route and fair are altered this train service will not last long!!

Not always, only a small percentage of worldwide electric trains use energy generated from Nuclear energy.
For instance Venezuela use diesel powered thermal electric power plants to produce electricity for the national grid, the grid electricity which is used to run the country's electric trains.
The last time I checked,Venezuela had no single nuclear power plant.
The dirty engines you see pulling the Syokimau express are all electric trains, only that they are kind of self contained, producing their own electricity from huge diesel fired internal combustion engines, they dont draw electric power from the the grid.
So for your information Kenya has electric trains. Portfolio: Sold
