Very very very sad day indeed for Kenya.....surely this is one of those interviews they should repeat. No offense to the honorable ladies and gentlemen who were shortlisted but if we think objectively of the kenya we want...highly unlikely we will get any change when you get one of the cops to lead the rest yet we say the entire force is rotten!! Looking at the characters shortlisted.....
1. Kimaiyo-top, during PEV as director of operations he couldn't control anything and had to be let go..He probably knows a lot of illegal things and X files on what happened in Kisumu, Naivasha, Eldoret, Mathare and Kibera. Supposing we opened an inquest on rape cases carried out by officers in Kisumu and Kibera as IGP on whose side would he batting for...his cops or justice bearing in mind he was overall operations commander.
2. John Ochieng - Deputy commander, police airwing chief...clearly the systems he put in place or left speak for themselves, commisioner of police and ministers falling off the sky from choppers, most of the fleet grounded anyway, comical and rogue procurement of aircraft, aircraft that can't even do emergency operations to provide cover to hapless dying junior officers at suguta valley or even pick their bodies leaving them to be devoured by hyenas, above choppers that kill the line minister and his assistant. Ok seriously what do we expect this man to do?
3. Grace Kaindi- I found hers laughable. When Kisumu was burning, she was hiding in her house. Do we remember Kirui and the alleged cover up 'ati the gun that killed the innocent jolly boys' was not what Kirui was issued with yet we all saw it on KTN. Certainly Kaindi did nothing to get some justice for the parents and families of those boys. I shudder to ask what new or what progressive thinking can she bring to the table.
Deputies
1. Ndegwa Muhoro - Not much goes against him but surely nothing new to expect if he has not provided that in his current posting.
2. Judy Ndeda - again nothing new likely to come from her really considering she hasn't done much. Secondly her big plan is to cut number of cars attached to senior officers from 4 to 1. great it releases more cars for patrols but certainly doesn't provide a much needed quantum shift for the force.
3. jasper ombati - again one of those system apologists who would defend the system even when the plain truth was there.
4. Arachi - For someone who forcefully deducted 500bob from every AP's payslip to organize a farewell party for Kinuthia who is headed for politics surely can't be the top scorer unless we are happy with mediocre standards.

Bottom line for me is that we have set the bar and standards so low as to undermine the reforms in the justice system in kenya. Remember cops are a vital cog in the justice system and we can have a good and great mutunga but with such low and mediocre standards at the police interviews well Mutunga can only do so much...I just think Kavuludi and his team have seriously misunderstood their mandate and there is VERY SERIOUS TROUBLE ahead starting with the elections. Why didn't they do what Githae did with CMA..reject the list and demand better calibre applicants...

I don't know why Muhoro did not go for the IG. This guys appears very level headed and professional. I hope he does not miss the deputy IG. Must the 1/3 rule apply?

You had every opportunity to apply for those jobs and you didn't.

In fact, if you were not qualified, you were also invited to say what you thought about a particular person being chosen in those positions. Obviously you did not.

Sometimes democracy means that if you do not participate, you then have the RESPONSIBILITY to shut up and be led.

@Alma many letters were sent...the thing is many dint expect it to go the way it has,we expected the commission to pick people who will bring real reforms to the police service not jokers as @Kausha said in his earlier posts,indeed its very sad thats the least/most I can say....
