my orange cdma line is still on, cck has been duped by the operators to believe that phones will be switched off

I think they switched off those that are inactive. they can't switch off a phone that uses 100/= airtime everyday. those who only use safcom for mpesa only or you have yu for those rare yu calls those ones must go

Am told that if you are on Okoa Jahazi, Safaricom cant switch you off.

the phone for our technician/head of engineering at home has just been switched off by safcom. I think they are doing it in phases, mos mos.

@Alfylavie. Are you insinuating that all phones from China are fakes? To the best of my knowledge it is counterfeits that are being switched off and not necessarily all handsets from China.

Ofcourse you know what I mean these cheap phones lined up along luthuli and tom mboya with all the features in the world including nail-cutter
Its very rear to find counterfeit made in Germany they come from china thats why i call them china phones

We Kenyans are the ones switching off not CCK. We choose what should be switched off here.

The mobile 4n switch off effort is now being hampered by very enterprising Kenyans who change the IMEI of the switched-off phones with those which can’t be repaired or those being returned to vendors as old phones. Mobile phone technicians in downtown Nairobi are able to bring back the phones to life by just replacing the counterfeit IMEI with the IMEI of the original phones. They charge a maximum of Ksh 1,000 for this.
