His official car. Quote:The president said that the only big item he owns is his VW car, valued at $1,945 dollars. The farmhouse in which he lives in Montevideo is under his wife’s name, Lucía Topolansky, a Senator, who also donates part of her salary.
“I do fine with that amount; I have to do fine because there are many Uruguayans who live with much less,” the president told El Mundo. He donates 90 percent of his earnings, to charitable causes.
Sounds like a tale but not in Uruguay. "The true measure of a man is how he treats someone who can do him absolutely no good.

Sounds like a tale but not in Uruguay. Public servants are not supposed to be wealthy - if you want wealth - go into the private sector. but we in the 3rd world we have conjoined public service and wealth at the hip! All Mushrooms are edible! Some Mushroom are only edible ONCE!

Am not sure if state guests ride in the same car though. He is leading by example and his days will be long on earth. Quote:Without bank accounts, and with few debts, Mujica told El Mundo that he sleeps peacefully. The peaceful sleep African leaders would do anything for to experience. Quote:Uruguay is the second smallest nation in South America by area, after Suriname. However it is one of the most developed countries on the continent, with a GDP per capita of $15,656. That’s less than half of United States’ GDP per capita, but it triples earnings in Honduras which has a GDP per capita of just $4,345. Under Mujica’s stewardship, Uruguay has become known for low levels of corruption. The South American country ranks as the second least corrupt country in Latin America in Transparency International’s global corruption index. Such stories make me pity our continent full of Leaders with Insatiable appetite. "The true measure of a man is how he treats someone who can do him absolutely no good.

Quote: Personal life In 2005, Mujica married Lucía Topolansky, a fellow Tupamaro member and current senator, after many years of co-habitation. They have no children and live on an austere farm in the outskirts of Montevideo where they cultivate flowers as an economic activity. His humble lifestyle is reflected by his choice of an aging Volkswagen Beetle as transport, his only asset. His wife owns the farm they live on. The Economist describes him as "a roly-poly former guerrilla who grows flowers on a small farm and swears by vegetarianism". He also donates 87% of his state salary to charitable causes.[25] He does not believe in God.[26]
If the above is your type of leader, then nuff said. Portfolio: Sold You know you've made it when you get a parking space for your yatcht.

What diff is there between a President and a Bishop? Do we base our choice of leaders on their personal lifestyle? how does it affect me,esp the kids, food, wife and cohabiting bit. Good then, let's assume that my leader has kids, married right, eats everything under the sun, believes in God,but he's mean, greedy and his corrupt mind stinks to the high heavens. Please give me Mujica any day even if I believe. "The true measure of a man is how he treats someone who can do him absolutely no good.

Fake president. Sounds like the othaya activist who kept on talking about 'helping' people.
It's like there's a dearth of leaders all over the world.
Blame it all on the rise of the mass man.
