Those in Nairobi. Do you know that by end of August 2009,NW&SC will have run out of water,and thus there will be no piped water in Nairobi? And this info came from non other than the water PS & Minister. How will you survive? Don’t mention boreholes since whatever boreholes we have cannot sustain 3million people every day. The implications on our way of life,business & fragile economy are too grave to contemplate.

One thing you can be sure,though this info is public knowledge,Uhuru has not factored this looming water shortage in the budget,so one year down the line you are likely to hear 'Government revenue was hard hit by severe water shortage,which slowed down economic growth and led to BIG hole in the budget ..….'

If NW is runing out of water by Aug 09,then we are going to use petrol for domestic use .......petrol will be cheaper then water like UAE.

BTW is borehole water safe for drinking ?

I am really surprised at the flippant response/no response to this thread. This is a more than grave issue; it is catastrophic issue. This is the result of years of no planning or none implementation of eloquent policy papers resulting in misuse and abuse of our natural resources - a total lack of appreciation of the same; and wrong prioritisation of our developmental (if any) agenda. Maybe this will be the wake up call we all need to get up and realise factors that are crucial to our very survival as a Nation. Coca Cola has been involved in water wars with communities in India with closure of some plants........ so what will happen to production at EABL for instance.........?therefore their profitability and stock prices? In Israel,they harness surface water and irrigate a virtual desert. Here,we pray and now dig boreholes (at best),let all our surface water drown folks in Budalang'i as the waters head for L. Victoria and others the Indian ocean..... carrying with it precious water and aluvium from deforested water towers of Kenya...As I always ask - which way for the sustainability of we,the Kenyan people and our children and their children?
