According to Isiah Kiplagat, KRA is demanding 12.8m and 50m from two top athletes..the taxes have been assessed on the proceeds of their races abroad... If you are an eagle don't hang around with chickens; chickens don't fly....

...Might Trizza Njeri Wanjiru, the wife of late world marathon champion be in trouble...the late athlete had made something close to kshs 1 billion by the time he was bidding the world bye bye and i believe all records are still intact. Tax to the tune of kshs 300m will surely make her bleed if not sweating that thin sweat... ...besides, the presence of a safe alone does not signify that there is money inside...

I think the athletes satisfy the requirements of resident status as per section 5 (1)(a) of the Income tax act, and besides the constitution provides that no one is exempt from paying tax. Remember the MPs debate on paying taxes? I do sympathise with them as they really work hard to win those accolades and prize money, so do the rest of us. Regardless whether the individual is dead, if he owed any taxes in arrears which come with penalties and interest, the administrator of the estate is resposible and MUST pay the taxes. Gova is an a*** when it comes to tax laws Thieves

Only in Kenya, it's possible. Actually it is said that tax is one of two legal requirements that doesn't stop with death! For the athletes, or people abroad, its not paying taxes that is compulsory, but filing of tax returns....and you can actually get reimbursed if you pay more tax abroad than you pay in Kenya, but only in countries that have a such agreements, lakini sijui Kenya niaje....
