Apparently the 'general' pardon was for anyone with less than 6 months... so 5 months & he was done... Makes little sense...

i think his release is in order...he was sentenced for 8 months (since May) and has served 5 months the balance of 3 is inconsequential...

So does a jamaa left with 6.5 months get a break? Ama he has to stay info 6.5 months coz he was jailed 2 weeks later?

There is nothing wrong with releasing him if he had less than 6 months to go.

This is an annual tradition that was started by Kenyatta decades ago to commemorate his arrest and subsequent detention in 1952.

The way this thread is going,one might think that the idea to release prisoners with less than 6mo to go was hatched up to benefit Cholmondeley.

@VVS; even guy with 6 months and one day to go were left behind bars!! A line must be drawn somewhere.

BTW if the Sunday Nation article is anything to go by then this delamere's grandson deserved a remission...
