Can someone make sense of contributions for me?

How she spent her money is not the issue and neither is it my business but i would wish she get's proper medical attention.IMHO,i think that is what she requires to get her life back on track.Meantime, the little we give will ensure she has a roof over her head for the next couple of months.I doubt anybody would want to see her walking and sleeping on our streets.

@Bwenyenye Those points you've raised are absolutely true. Because there is a danger of raising funds soon for the wife of Wanjiru simply because he was a great runner.

But this is all about what we stand for as a country and as a people.

There is no giving without emotion. If you give without emotion, you are a politician in a funeral. There has to be emotion to give.

It's a question of what we are telling our children. Issues arise here that are important.

1. The state of mental health in our country
2. The state of gov't services to those that need it
3. The state of a nation where we dump our heroes and cling to our sonkos.
4. What you are going to tell your children about success and failure when you grow up.

I won't belabour any of those points. Take your time and think about them.

Most of us are parents here and we want to tell them that they live in a country where if they work hard enough, they will succeed and do better than us.

But is that the case?

I think the story we hear is that if you take advantage of someone else's misfortune and steal from others, you shall be successful...Heck, we shall elect you as MP, Senator, Governor, President, Prime Minister.

Here is a story of a poor young lady who had no education and insisted that she will not fail but become the BEST IN THE WORLD.

She did it.

Her story should be echoed all over this country. In every school, in every shamba in every muratina den.

But no!

KissTV decides that they will do the story coz its sensational. Bloggers decide to hate the gov't. Corporates which used to give her money dump her and say she's mwenda wazimu. Everyone looks and says, but she had money.

What we are doing is laughing at Kenyans who work for a living and are the best in what they do.

We must change that as a country.

We must fight for those that are the best and demonise those that fail.

I said yesterday that it is more important to start something than think and say you will do something.

After we started this here on wazua, Robert Alai has moved it further and they've raised enough for her rent for one year plus more on twitter.

So yes, Selah and Collapsable are right. more can be done. But we had to start somewhere.

Conje has been a role model in this country of success even without money, success even without political power, success without an education. Success because you want to be the best in what you want to do.

Conje can now be the role model for the youth of this country where we say. We shall support and appreciate those in this country that work to be the best in THE WORLD.

We won't watch you and laugh at you as you disintegrate into oblivion as Waititu becomes Governor.

We are a decent nation and people and we take care of our own whether the Raila and Kibaki gov't like it or not.

For those who've written to me. today somehow I don't have electricity in my office. I will try and call you later today to talk with you and chart the way forward.

@bwenyenye Does it really matter how she spent her cash...The issue is , she is sick and leaves in a deplorable condition.A kenyan hero shld be our responsibility no matter how successful they were.

My only concern is that kenyans like helping from far and then its up to the pple being helped to sort themselves....I think thats a bad way to do things Look at kenyans for kenyans ..no one know how that project is faring..we contributed funds and left Redcross to do the rest.

I remember a story of four street boys who were highlighted ...I think on kiss100...their story was so moving ..... so some philanthropic Kenyans felt that they could help them by taking them to school and catering for their daily needs...They did that for one yr then the well wishers vanished the four boys went back to the streets..so I was wondering Why cant the well wishers just come together and plan a long lasting project like a Fund that is self sustaining.

@selah you are absolutely right. I think there's a group here on wazua led by one vision2030. Maybe we should think long term. We have some of the best investors in the country right here. Maybe one of them can create a self sustaining fund for things like this. I for one would support that one monthly.

Who said starting something small doesn't work.Applause We started it here and now it has ballooned.

Now let the experts come in and help in more ways than we in wazua can dream of.

Watu wangu ambao mlituma, I'll call you later so you can advise on where to send it to.

And McReggea tell your politicians to take this seriously. It should not be a photo op. They can and should come up with more comprehensive policies of helping our heroes. Not go dump her in a hospital and leave.

I'm one happy bugger!smile Applause

I am quite impressed by you Alma and the whole Wazua fraternity.

Keep the good work.

The Skcharity group is still active. Infact today we are paying the school fees for Samuel the Kid we support at the Ruiru rehab Center.

Any initiative for the betterment of humanity is highly welcome.

Thank you very much Wazuans and Kenyans for saving Conjestina.

Hawa watu wa siasa you know them.

Once they saw it go viral, they now pretend they are going to help.

If Ida goes there to take her to hospital only, then she's faking it. She can do more.

We want a comprehensive gov't policy on how we deal with our best in this country. It should be written on paper. I'm sure there are others out there who are going through the same in different sports.
