Great car. But import from UK not Japan. He who can express in words the ardour of his love, has but little love to express. - Petrach, Son. (That men by various ways arrive at the same end. - Montaigne, The Essays of.)

I have owned one since Dec 2011, it is a UK import, 1.8L. Great performance, stable on road. I was upgrading from NZE. No regrets, go for it. Ofcourse make sure a thorough inspection is done on the one that you are interested in.

The performance is not bad, though I feel it sways a little bit too much at higher speeds - it causes me some worry at times (maybe its just my car).
Security will depend on how you drive, how much you pray and if whoever you offer your prayers to cares to answer them.
the one disappointment I have is the space, its a little bit squeezed in.
