The US ambassador is always boasting how the US is the model of transparency to be emulated by all. How the hell does he explain an individual being able to rip off $50 billion from people??
Almost 4 trillion kenya shillings!
In broad daylight!
With the world's most expensive government bureaucracy watching!

800 billion US dollars (a mind boggling kshs 64 trillion!!) bailout from the government,and millions of lost jobs due to the 'greed',as Obama calls it,of a few. In any other country it's called 'corruption' my friend.
How does HSBC and Santander invest billions of US dollars in Madoff's pyramid scheme??? Incredible!
We might say Kenya is the land of corruption,but surely we've learnt from the best.
Transparency International (TI),which should have closed shop a long time ago,has revealed itself as merely an outfit to window dress the following obvious fact ....
The US:- surely the world's most corrupt country.
No.2 BRITAIN.
No. 3 ICELAND.

don't look at the cash as if is a lot. look at the percentage change the money would cause in the country's economy and you discover it is far much lower than kenya's A likely impossibility is always preferable to an unconvincing posibility. African parents don't know how to say sorry.. the closest you will get to a sorry is a 'have you eaten'

1) Madoff stole from individuals. It was a pyramid scheme. Kenyan politicians steal from the taxpayers! 2) $50 bn was the amount that maddoff told his investors the fund is worth. He did not get $50bn from them. 3) HSBC & Santander were idiots to invest with madoff. And they are no US banks. There will always be corrupt individuals but the overall theft/corruption is much much lower than Kenya... And madoff was taken to court & will be jailed. Sorry to diappoint you but get your facts right. The USA is as big as Africa so your figures comparing to Kenya are seriously flawed.
GDP is ions away from Kenya so a guy stealing the Kenyan trillions you just mentioned cannot be compared.
However let us look at a few facts about your flowery Kenya
1. I have to honga a cop and call it a business expense.- only happens in Kenya and maybe South Africa.
2. I have to buy you,yes you,tea for you to do your job- doesn't happen in america
3. Mungiki roams free- Even the mafia is dead in america and i only pay my taxes
4. President crys for his gal but not for turkana - would be fired in america
5. you vote in guys because he's your tribe - need I say more?
6. the land you are buying may have been a proposed river - this only in kenya
7. you still go to nakumatt even with gas cylinders one day after they kill people there - nakumatt would have been past tense even in Latvia
8. You pretend unazo - lakini hauna! only in Kenya
9. Corruption my friend is a Kenyan phenomenon. I know you have hongad someone. In fact I can bet everyone on sk has hongad someone to get something.- Not in america. I am what I am because of what I do. If I am broke,its my fault. if I am rich,its my fault.
Next time you post,post with some evidence. Not using the usual Kenyan nonsence. We want to help but some of us have learned that you guys are all just upusi!!!

Finje,Your comparission is so silly that it would not make sense to a primary school child.
Here institutions that matter to the common person work,this can not be said of the same in Kenya.
I have lived/gone to school in the states close 15 years i have never had to bribe any one for anything. I do not think that would happen in Kenya unless i was locked up in a Cave,because even guys in prison pay bribes to enjoy certain liberties like receive a visit.

just a quick update on the AIG saga mentioned below. ( their 68 billion losses are felt on the NSE too ..)
death threats issued to guys recieving 'bonuses'..
the senator who ensured they get bonuses confesses (after vigorous denials from everyone,reporters figure out who did it and call him for comment before breaking the story he desides to explain on tv)
some execs offer to pay the money back
obama says the buck stops with him! (imagine that!)
all in 24 hours
there is a lesson somewhere here for us ...

.... let's not forget they have the most expensive and high tech law enforcement and government bureaucracy in the world ... yet they cannot detect a simple publicly operated Ponzi scheme.
.... for those nay sayers who say it's got nothing to do with Kenya. Your PM gives regular updates and briefs to the US ambassador. Moreso the US embassy finances the activities of his office. All this is public knowledge as it is there for all to see in the newspapers. Who,therefore does he report to? ... who is his effective boss? ... Who therefore runs things .... (is in charge) in your country Kenya?

@Finje Are you sure about that. Does camaradie ties btn Raila and Ranneberger go that deep. Though Raila may have lost favour with many,and especialy the Muslim community in Kenya,we shouldnt impute improper motives on the PM. B.timer Dunia ni msongamano..

Now now Finje. I don't want to hurt your feelings but thieves and conmen are not only made in Kenya. They are all over the world.
You will not live anywhere without a thief,a con,a murderer and any other thing you hate.
The question is what does the society do about it when such a person is found. In Kenya,you become an MP and are promoted at work. I don't want to burst your bubble but the country you pretend to hate so much does not have such upus.
The madoff guy you are touting so much is going to jail less than 6 months after he was found out. What about any such person in Kenya?
If you think for even one minute that you can survive in the USA with an attitude of paying off people just because you saw it in a movie,I would greatly advice you to go and have your visa denied like the politicians. You will not last a day.
Instead of trying to say that 'even that guy has a bad haircut,I should be fine',I would suggest you come up with ways to stop these gov't workers from asking for a bribe from every person who enters their office.
As for Raila and the USA,if you have evidence that such behaviour is what caused my bus fare to be hiked from 30 bob to 80 bob today,I will be very interested.
There are more pressing issues than who is sleeping with who in Kenya.

Methinks it has nothing to do with the proportions but the principle behind it.You can condemn these officials and leaders all you want but all corruption has its roots in a society. Last GE 70% of MPs were sent home,their replacements are now asking for more perks,never mind the small matter of starvation threatening a third of their countrymen. If all those MPs were to be replaced today,I can bet all my earthly possessions the picture would remain the same if not worse.
