Jomo's dad had been taken from rift valley to central kenya and imprisoned by whites. Was later set free and he sired the founder of the nation after befriending a kikuyu lady.
That is why Jomo had a soft spot for Moi against the likes of Njonjo.
Moi is also seemingly attached to Uhuru in the same way.

I have a dream..that one day kenyan kids will be as alien to tribes as the african americans in the US are regardin what tribe their ancestors belonged to befor bein shipped to slavery.
