There was excitement on CNN and BBC this morning about the finding of "Higgs Boson"

Now who is Higg and when did he/she lose his/her boson?

What is a boson anyway and is it related to bosom?

I hear it is the Ngai Fa Fa Particle. The molasses of the Universe.

The BBC was yesterday discussing if this discovery will affect the belief in God. What crap!

They claimed its a god-like particle, whatever they mean!

The Higgs boson "gives" mass to atoms, and therefore all things. It is all high science, a tour de force for physicists but will not amount to anything for the rest of humanity.
The only useful thing for wider humanity that CERN has done is the invention of the World Wide Web (not to be confused with the Internet, that was discovered by DARPA).

Higgin Boson is simpler than that....and it has nothing to do with God....It's a sub-nuclear particle that simply gives electrons, neutrons and protons,mass......If it's true though that it's been found,it will help in more serious scientific breakthroughs in years to come.Congratulations are in order to thoes great physicists.

When Einstein formulated his E=mc^2 it was said that these were fanciful flights of theoretical physicists that would never be put to practical use. Less than 40 years later it resulted into the atomic bomb. You dont know what this Higgs Boson will result into.

@bkismat ...the atomic bomb didn't turn out so well for humanity, especially the Japanese. Bad analogy there Sir. That being said, the mathematical properties and behaviour of the Higgs boson have been known and proven for many many years now, actual proof may be of little value - I stand to be collected though . smile smile ... However, CERN has been smashing particles together for decades now, with little of their research finding its way to mainstream use, other than to prove theories that only 50 people in the whole world understand - For the billions of cash they use, the results are not justifiable. That is why I remain sceptical

i thought it was a new brand of ugali maize flour.
seriously tho, these CERN scientists were conducting some experiment last year that afew scientists feared could have led to the end of the earth as we know it.

What do you mean they have discovered?
This particle was there even before these guys were born!
Its like saying that Speke discovered Lake Victoria as if the Luos living on the shore were not human beings!
