Look, this is not a helpless complicated situation as one Tinga tinga and Mulonzo would make us believe. The police took an oath to protect civilians and maintain law and order so that the rest of us can go on with our lives with plenty of peace of mind. I bet the cops are hapless and clueless and things are substantially above them and to an extent if I was Kibaki by now I would have formed a very visible anti terrorism unit with cops, Intelligence officers and soldiers that would be very visible in all border towns and key towns. Mboys in blue scare no one and worse still we all know they are poorly equipped and exposed. How do you tell cops to stand outside a church and the only thing they have to protect their bodies is a Sweater or the blue shirt. That G3 is no weapon when a goon appears suddenly with another weapon!! Really sad. Why can't Iteere even request for funding to buy bullet proof vests, sophisticated detecting equipment etc?

In Uganda after the July 2010 bombings, the level of security went up 5 times higher lots of intelligence gathering, mean looking security personnel patrolling the towns, all buildings being vetted by police and intelligence for security preparedness etc. In kenya Tuko tu!

We always point fingers on the wrong people...we as a people need to change. We are hiding information about these thugs. Youth in Garisa were seen celebrating when this massacre happened. If the GSU is sent there...all sort of cries will be heard from human rights groups etc..up to today we have no law inplace that can be used against these people so even when the cops arrest people on suspicion they cant take them to court nor hold them for more than 48hrs. How is the police expected to work. Would you have the morale to do it if it was you? I am not absorbing them from corruption and laxity claims but i think our security should be the responsibility of each and everyone.

I personally would like to hear/see our media getting more aggressive not in condemning the cops/govt but in educating Kenyans on how a grenade looks like...on the powders that are being discovered in bags, and any other weapon associated with terror. By the way, does the 999 call line work? Are there new numbers?

A person carrying it suspicioulsy is enough.
People carrying drugs are busted cz they are always nervous.
