Below is the Nairobi Metro Plan....sadly it doesnt seem to take the matatu away

I am not sure water table should have anything to do with it. Transport for London runs a few meters under the Thames!

Does that map include the Bus Rapit Transit System proposed because the Mass Rapid Transit System meant for Nairobi
involves both Bus (BRTS) and Rail (LRTS) the buses are supposed to replace matatus and compliment the Rail.

Water table doesn't affect underground rail. Cost do. Nairobi should explore and develop surface one. Early to think of underground
work to prosper

I came across a report late last year done by CES and APEC for the Ministry of Transport it had some info that may be give you an idea of Nairobi Metropolitan. If the transit system is implemented then Nairobi and its environs would be different. Thika was part of the plan so things seems to be falling into place considering Thika is already done and they are serious about the nairobi light rail transport system.
