KK is still a well functioning company. So we win both ways. But really, hedging your whole life on your employer has always been a terrible idea. Invest & Grow.

It's the tunaomba serikal mentality!
What they need is a mindset change. I can imagine & indeed understand the fears inside them having been there, but as @Vitu mob said here before,if u hardworking & know u worth,u need not worry,u certainly will keep u job or be hunted for by other firms!
But even more worrying as u say is our inability to save, invest & grow & hence no passive income!Really sad!

They need to exit the rat race. Own the company, not work for it.....at least in the long run.

I think its not only a lesson to KK staff but to most of us even here on Wazua. We have to learn to avoid the serikali mentality... unfortunately we as Kenyas dont, we forget so easily...

They know more about the firm than we do! They could have bought shares well before the Takeover was announced!

Do employees want to share in the losses? Or only when there are gains?
How many KQ directors, management or staff have shares in KQ? Do they share the pain? NO. On the other hand if KQ was 'taken over' at a premium, they would want a bonus!

What saddens me even more is workers of brokerage firms or mutual fund managers who have no interest in investing, they deal with shares for a living but they do not believe in them! I can never feel sorry for these people. I think life has to hit you/push you to realize you cant depend on your job forever.

I see nothing wrong with the workers petition, in fact its a pre requisite from Puma to assure that the takeover does not result in Job losses...this is one of the smoothest takeovers I have seen...I will be worried when CMA or GoK tries to block it for some reason unknown...so cut the flack to the KK staff...it is where it is today because of the sacrifices of some of this staff.

Dude investing is not all about buying shares at the NSe...some of those folks might be owning the shop you bought your phone from...if the returns are good...why should they buy shares? If we all bought shares and nobody set up companies...KK will not be here...

1) "in fact its a pre requisite from Puma to assure that the takeover does not result in Job losses" - What prerequisite? In law? In the agreement? Give us facts not your opinions disguised as facts.
2) The takeover has barely started. Not until we find out more. GoK (via MoE) can be a huge pain.
3) "the sacrifices of some of this staff" - Sacrifice? What did they sacrifice? Were they paid for their work? Did they get shares in the ESOP? Did they get options? Finally, 'some' not all the staff.

true. there are many forms of investing, i hope they are in another form really hope. Still sad though, they should at least invest partly in what they deal with!! furthermore, one would be hitting nails to their own coffin it they ever took advice about shares from such people.

So let them set up their shops. Why should they want a bonus from the sale of OUR shares in KK? Do we get a share of the income from their shops?

You cannot dictate how many workers i need, telkom workers never suceeded and new managements come with new ideas so jobs are not cast on stone provided your dues are paid what else?
