Family bank had a similar idea but have shelved it -we had serious arguments with them over the Diamond house which were sorted out amicably regarding the concept.

@cmk..decra is a brand name for stone-coated steel sheets. What this means is a normal flat mabati sheet painted with acrylic car body paint that has granules of sand inside to give it the rough texture.

Some Australian guy managed to patent this but Chinese and their ingenuousness have continued to supply the same quality all over the world.

What they dont tell you is that you can not use the water from these roofs to drink coz it contains chipped paint which contains lead which can cause high blood pressure on adults and brain damage on children.
Unless they prove that their paint contains no lead which will be a new invention.

about the water collected from the decra roofs? i have seen some guys drinking it??I hope you are right about this.

Also please enlighten me on the chinese alternative to decra and its quality plus durability and the aesthetic aspects.

Box profile is okay so long as you roof when all works on the house are complete..i used the wrong gauge-30 as i was hard pressed for cash and my house still had some works remaining..when the fundis came back for facie boards and other works ,they stepped on the iron sheets thereby flattening the profile ridges,and when we later straightened the ridges,i noticed small holes had developed,and the gaps between the individual iron sheets had lengthened,thereby allowing water to drip onto the ceiling boards..if you can adjust your budget,i would suggest you go for a stronger gauge-e.g 26-28.
