i was opposed to the constitution because of the massive increase in size of gvt(more MPs,Senators, women reps+huge county gvt). However as per this particular change in the elections Act i think is refreshing. My reasoning has always been that by the time you reach the point of being a viable presidential candidate you have something to offer the country and you should not have to end your political career just because you lost a presidential contest. Some of the candidates would make terrible presidents in my opinion but are valuable in contributing to other areas that would help the country.

This is not a constitutional amendment. It is an amendment to the Elections Act. There is nothing unconstitutional about it.

I agree with you!!!

It is unconstitutional to the letter.

Does the letter of the constitution forbid an aspirant from running for 2 seats? Which article?

The aspirant running for Presidency is forbidden, read your laws again.
You must have voted with the Euphoria that swept NyaNZA AND kIBERA.

"From the reactions, one can tell that most of those throwing insults at MPs never watched the debates in Parliament and are not even aware of the laws altered leave alone the reasoning behind the amendments. Some have gone to the extent of claiming that the Constitution has been changed".........

Cautious approach to this issue is best. Civil society n media are lying when they tell u that the constitution has been amended.

There is much ado about nothing.Kenyans dont want democracy when it does not suit them.MPs have the right to amend or come up the particular legislation on all these issues.I have seen all the craze about MPs having degrees and i read kenyans want MPs to have degrees.I say that is fine and good because kenyans can vote in MPs with degrees only in the next general election. That is the power of the vote.To legislate and bar non degree holders from vying for office is in itself discriminatory and is not true democracy.I like Githu Muigai because he seems to be the only one who understands this.On the same token i dont support the one third rule on women representatives.Affirmative action is supposed to be used to give one an equal shot as those who have had a particular advantage over them but it is not supposed to guarantee you a job or a seat in parliament
