''Standard'' took on ''Nation'' this morning on the Obama-Raila meeting.. Was just wondering did I have to pay to read two kids fight?

''Contrary to reports in some Kenya media that had indicated that the PM would not meet Obama,Mr Raila met Mr Obama twice on Wednesday, first at a luncheon for heads of State and later at a dinner.''

''Earlier in the week,a local daily published reports on how Raila was dropped from a heads of State luncheon that was to be hosted by Obama.''

''On Wednesday, the same daily published another report discounting the possibility that Obama and Raila would meet face to face. ''

and why should I care Mr. Standard???? just report what you got!! and leave me to Judge you??????? Pumbavu!

if the incompetent and the reckless compete, the result is a disaster.. MN

I refused to believe the Nation story. I sensed there was a game being played by someone intentionally. To what end? I cannot tell you.

Standard is crap...From the layout to objectivity...its unbelivable that you can have a great TV station while your newsprint is horrible...If you want sensational gossip go to Star who do some good investigative work..

The truth shall set you free

They've messed up a good story...

Rather than the story being about the Kenyan PM meeting the American Prezzo to discuss bilateral relations....

Its a ragtag squabble...

Come on Standard... there's a reason why on budget day,the issues make the headlines, while the stories of who was asleep are printed on page 5....

You should have separated the two stories and given RAO his limelight...

Where did Nation get the story that RAO has been barred from seeing his cousin? If that wasn't unprofessional sensationalism I don't know what is. Standard is simply setting the record straight. Obviously those who were gleefully making jokes about the Raila snub will be the most disappointed...

Be the change you want to see in the world...

By now,I thought Standard would have grown up but it seems they are yet to mature.
Nation was quoting Ranhambergger (my foot),so if there was misreporting, point at the American Ambassador. KTN was never started by Standard. Infact,it was by default that Standard has a stake in KTN. Anyway, they walk among us,some of us buy the paper and still walk among us. But the problem is that they reproduce

They walk among us,and they reproduce.

So does this mean that Nation is PNU and Standard is ODM...

''Politicians close to Raila interpreted the diplomatic tiff to be arising from their PNU rivals, who were trying to block him from meeting Obama.''

why not explain what was discussed and what the next actions are...?? NKT!

There is a lot of deception in our media and both Standard and Nation are not blameless. So was the ambassador misquoted on all that business of a 'disinvite'? Who is it that said meeting Obama was not in Raila's itinerary?

I find the details of Obama-Raila encounter interesting- the one by Standard is detailed including on contents of discussion while the most Nation could mention is a 'photo opportunity''.

Our media has been used for propaganda and truth and real issues suffer in the process.

Half of what you read in the newspapers are outright intentional lies

Half of the remaining half is doubtful

'Nation' < Standard...same difference to me..we should try and look at issues at hand ie; who has seen the speech he delivered at Harvard's Kennedy School of Government ' Making Democarcy Work in Africa -Vision of An African Leader' Kudos Raila, that was some piece.

I think Citizen should try and do a National Newspaper... maybe we can get value for our money... but again it could end up with the same crop of journalists.. NKT

standard lacks in objectivity.I have been reading both nation and standard for many years and standard is openly biased.I dont even understand RAO's obsession with trying to be linked to obama.reform the institutions in kenya and you will not have to be embarassed about having fake stories published by your biased(standard cronies) on how you met obama twice. This whole circus overshadowed RAO's good speech at havard.

Ha ha!Interesting!Tell you what guys.......whether Raila met/didn't meet/was dis-invited does not matter! It does not add any ugali to your table.

It's either,Standard shamefully takes on Nation or Standard puts Nation in its place. It just depends on what shade of Rose-Tinted Glasses you bring to the argument
