A leader leads. Simple. Leads from the front.
A leader doesn't waste time going round and round consulting.
What you are describing up there as a "leader" is a bandwagon politician.
Do you think Kibaki spent weeks consulting whether to look East for economic cooperation? Did the Wanjiku knew looking East would be good for them?
Do you think Mao spent weeks consulting on how to transform China?
A leader is supposed to be visionary in order to lead the "blind"[masses].
A bandwagon politician is no different from a blind trying to lead other blinds.
About the Chinese Deng,who of the Chinese leaders was not a member of the communist party? Hu Jintao? Zemin? Shangkun? Xiannian? China is a special case, you can't use them as basis to support anyone.
In order of rating the G7 members, i would rate Ruto and Uhuru higher than MM.
MM is like the good ,nice husband who never decides on anything,and whenever the wife complains about their deplorable state of living, the guy responds by saying " we decide and do everything together,why blame me?".
We have a constitution to guide the next leader. Let the next leader lead us.
@mkeiyd
I will have to agree with you up to a certain point but I will tell you why I disagree on this one issue. The leadership from the front is only possible in a certain context where the leader has the power to do so. To be honest with you I would not have chosen to vote for Musalia if we still had the all powerful presidency of the old constitution. In that constitution all arms of government were subordinate to the presidency and in that context a leadership from the front would probably have been more effective.
A presidency in the new constitution is a much more restricted playing field. Any action of the president can be thwarted by the now independent Judiciary and any of the other independent bodies in government. It is my argument that to be effective in this context a different kind of leadership will be required. All presidential appointments will have to be vetted so someone who can build cooperation with the Legislature will get more done. Soon anybody will be able to go to court if his rights are violated in any way by the actions of government so a leadership that will be able to build consensus on any action will be have less disruption and hence a greater chance of success. As much as you do not like the word, the president is and will have to be a politician although most of the politics, the negotiations the give and take will be done behind closed doors and not at public rallies.
A president in my opinion does not necessarily need to be visionary and the masses are not blind. There are now teams like the 2030 team that have already spelt out visions so all the president has to do is enable it to get done. People know what they want and in that sense they are not blind. An effective president is one who can communicate to them clearly where they are and what the government is doing to get there. To do this you need to hear them out.
